Yeah, Meyers is definitely the cream of the crop defensively among their OFs but Dusty seems to consider him as a 4th OF who should not get regular playing time. Like maybe he thinks Dubon's defense is close to as good as Meyers' and his bat blows Meyers' away even though really Meyers' blows Dubon away defensively and they probably aren't all that different offensively. Thus, when he leans defense he goes with Dubon with Meyers only getting sporadic, pity playing time.
I don’t believe even his (Dubon)mediocre hitting will continue either. He is a great bench player and needs to start every once in a while to have a chance to even stay mediocre, but he is being overused. There is no reason for Diaz to be sitting in favor of Dubon. I have come to accept the idiocy of Maldonado (why is it called the Mendoza line, it should be the Maldi line at .180), but it would be so easy to make sure that Diaz AND McCormick are playing 9 out of every 10 games.
No one gets a ringing endorsement to start out of Urquidy, Brown, Javier, France. Hopefully two arms step up soon and give us a solid 4 for a playoff run.
Maldy will start the majority of playoff games. That is a fact. Need to let go of this fantasy of Diaz as the lead catcher. Will not happen with Dusty as manager.
I just love how Dusty "remembered" that Dubon was better than Meyers in CF about ten games into Julks's hitless streak. Almost like Dubon's superior defensive skills only mattered when Julks wasn't an option in the OF.
Hunter Brown has a 78 DRA- and an 81 cFIP for the season and ppl will tell you that he’s a bum who should be moved to the pen. He should drop his usage of the power slider however.
Isn't he the favorite of our best pitchers Valdez and Verlander? I'm not sure about the preference for the rest, but my guess is he's more prone to go with who the pitchers prefer most.
How soon after we end out playoff run does our current "World's Best Coach" get shown the door with the 4 big red letters above it? Will the Texans be any good this season? How many Astros leave and go play for our friendly neighbors up the highway to hell? Is the Houston<-->Dallas speed train functional? Anything we should do to ensure humanity's survival?
The only solace I'm taking is that we win the WS or Dusty is likely gone....I hope. It has to be infuriating for Dana Brown, just like Click, knowing that his best team will never be on the field. What's the point of even bothering to optimize a roster when the manager is gonna play who he personally likes.
Dusty poops all over Chas again. He loves to pretend that Dubon is a better CF. Dusty hates Chas and yea it’s at the expense of the team. lol and bats him behind a guy who cant even get to .700 OPS. Dusty hates Chas. So disrespectful.
I mean he is playing Chas again w/Dubon in the lineup - albeit the A's are putting forward a lefty so that is a no brainer. As long as he doesn't split time with Dubon and is playing in almost every game going forward, I'm good. I just wish Diaz was in the lineup
there is no point. They gave him a 3rd catcher to help get Diaz playing time and Dusty ignored him for 2-3 months.
I wish that Dusty would put the better CF in CF. I wish that Dusty didn’t put our 2nd worst hitter in the lineup 5th or 6th every single day. Chas has an OPS 200 points higher than Abreu but Dusty likes to pretend.
I just wonder if another manager would have just told the pitchers that he didn't care who they wanted, and suck it up and just pitch with who he chooses. I don't know enough about baseball to know how that dynamic works, as far as pitchers and their wants. I definitely like Diaz bringing a better chance of getting on base, if he is just as good as catching and throwing guys out stealing base.
