The NBA is a regional sport

Winning the NBA Finals earns you the NBA title, while winning the World Cup earns you the world title. It's as simple as that, and the prestige of the respective competitions has nothing to do with it. By the way, the best football teams compete in the Champions League in Europe, but they cannot be crowned club world champions until they defeat teams from every continent.

 

USA is part of the world in case you haven't realized. What makes it the world is it includes the best players in the world not that it is played in USA.

Yeah so that's the NBA. Any non NBA team will get demolished by the best NBA team that's why there's no NBA vs other leagues conference cuz it's a massive waste of time.

 

The NBA teams are better than the World Cup teams so the NBA champion is also the World Champion, it's as simple as that. The NBA is also part of the world and superior to all these country teams.

Whats the point of defeating teams of every continent when the NBA teams are better? You make a lot of brouhaha of having to defeat multiple countries but these country teams all suck compared to NBA teams. Ok you beat the Philippine National team so what? 99% of these guys suck so bad they can't even make it out of Asia. Angola's best player is Bruno Fernando Omg such an achievement to beat his team. The only good basketball teams are in US, Canada and Europe so how does that make it a "world cup"? Might as well call it Western cup since these are the only teams that matter. The other countries don't even make it to the Olympics I know the PH team didn't fight Germany so how is Germany the world champion? So it's ok for Germany not to fight the PH team but the NBA teams need to fight and slaughter these country teams first to prove their superiority? How does that make sense in your head?

I don't know **** about football so I won't comment on how they do things but the Country teams of the Olympics without any NBA players all suck ass. Germany for example all the heavy lifting was done by their NBA teammates these country teams without any NBA players would all get pounded by Houston Rockets.

 

The thing is: the best team isn‘t automatically the world champion. Greece has won the European Cup - they weren‘t the best team in Europe by a long shot. Leicester has won the premier league - they weren‘t the best team (I am talking about quality of the roster here). That‘s why we play the games.

I am not offended by people calling the NBA champions world champions. But to me there is a different. For soccer we have a teams world cup where the champions league winner plays a little tournament against teams of the american continent and the asian continent. Teams that win this one don‘t usually call themselves world champion.

And while I do believe that the NBA champion would win any kind of tournament most of the times - I also do believe that a team like Real Madrid could win once every couple of times.

So yeah, winning the NBA is the most prestigous basketball title. But it is just that, a league title.

 

It isnt about who is better by assumption, but rather you just cant assume you are the best and take certain titles without getting them. Magic to cup titles is that even best teams can have bad day, one lost game and its a good bye. Handful of european teams could put up a fight with ex NBA players on their rosters if they had good day. 9/10 NBA team would win but its not the argument

 

Its like saying Tyson Fury is unified boxing hw champion because most people think he would kill Usyk. But he didnt. So he is not unified champion.

 

Is Jamaica national sprinting champion called world champion or does he go to olympics to get it first

 

Actually they look into Europe expansion. Real Madrid seeks that for years. Guess where Doncic would play?

 

If they ever create competition with top European teams, almost no of the European bred players will play in America. Doncic, Wemby, Jokic, Giannis… top talent is bred in Europe nowadays

Having tourneys that are only one game means that's just chance, you can't say the champion is the best they are just the luckiest. Look at March Madness why is it called Madness? Cuz anything can happen the strongest team can have a bad game and get eliminated in the first round. That makes for great watchability but you can't say the champion is the best team since upsets happen all the time.

Best of 7 is the right way to win a match that's why NBA is the best and most exclusive title in US pro team sports.

Because Philippines didnt qualify but they participated in the same competition. If they were good enough they would play against Germany. No matter how good of a team you have not in the USA - you cant compete against NBA champion for a title. And that would be a world championship

Half of the Euroleague would demolish Houston Rockets. If there are any highschool level teams its the bottom of the NBA.

So these other players aren't good enough to even be in the NBA, they didn't get drafted and signed as free agents unlike Luka, Giannis, Jokic who are indeed good enough to get drafted and signed that's why they are in the NBA.
