Sure… and hindsight is 20/20. The offensive lineup failed tonight. That is all. Framber prefers Maldonado, it’s not like Framber pitched a dud of a game either.
Honestly, I never expect a win against the worst teams. Our guys are so inconsistent. The home fans obviously don't give us an edge. Maybe they get too relaxed at home, party too hard, or just don't get enough rest. Who knows.
They’ve finally turned it around at home The easy part of the schedule This team has been hitting the cover off of the baseball
Should of fielded the Sugarland Cowboys instead of a listless team. I'm pretty sure they didn't use the IPad for this game, why study against a 99 loss team?!?!?!?!?
i didn't expect a win either but to score 0 runs against the A's pitching staff? that's straight embarrassing.
Great question... I'm glad you asked. Since the All-Star break (as the rest of the season started to pick up)... - I would've relegated Dusty Baker to a minor role-- while pushing the "we're trying to set up for next year" narrative... subjugating his lineup decisions, SP pitch counts, favoritism, and media "face-time". - I would've started Y Diaz as C / DH in as many games as Bregman plays - I would've said: ok Maldy, you can catch? well, we have a glaring hole at 1B that needs some depth-- and apparently you hit better than our $19M/yr GIDP/RBIdontexist producer - I would've started Chas McCormick 85-90% of games, let Dubon rotate between CF, 2B, SS as times are needed off for starters.... also, he'd be first off the bench. - I wouldve given Dana Brown COMPLETE control over the clubhouse / lineup cards (unless he trusts someone who can do right by analytics / variables). - I would've tried different coaches at 1B/3B, allowing Pettis and Lopez to test managerial & bench coaching roles (not that anything is wrong with them, everything seems a bit too complacent, so lets rotate stations...) - I would've paid out Dusty Baker's contract by the end of July (with a "bonus") as long as he'd still be the "MLB/media/narrative-choice" as a talking piece / "face of the clubhouse" - I would've picked up whatever LHR / BP specialists I could have when so many clubs were optioning & designating players as the firesales were happening. - I still would've picked up JV - I would've started looking for C depth beyond Diaz, Maldonado... and best hope he's interchangeable at 1st. - I wouldve traded (any) combination of Meyers/Julks/Singleton/Kessinger after they trended upwards for a bit - I would've never played "less than ideal" or "subpar metrics" players along with another and anoher in the same lineup - I wouldve sent Jose Abreu on assignment / hitting camp until he reloaded his production - Again, if end of July was too soon, I would've set a hard date for 8/31 for a "hey look hea man" to Dusty Baker: "what in actuality fcukness are you even talking about? Your duties have been stripped, enjoy the game/team while you're here... your media privileges have been stripped, your decisions about lineups/players have been stripped... WE (the organization/city) want to push Y Diaz for ROY-- and you got in the way of that... no matter what you think about how MM's game-planning-wizadry exists (keep your mouth shut, we can prove you wrong) and although you want to push up other teams' players in every post-game presser (ex: J Rodriguez-- even though we just may think you could be illiterate at this point bc data analysis, metrics comprehension don't seem to get along with you)... we're gonna say: Uhhh No you're absolutely wrong-- more wrong than a waxed peach on a Chinese hooker... get over it or get some wristbands that said #screwston on them and learn to enjoy these last few months of your career" How would you have gotten us more RickFlair gifs by now?? psshh MF... asking me what I'd have done different. I'd also get all you DB-train-hitching cucks a mandatory IQ test and set forth a standard baseline for those who post and start advising you to take shots of hand sanitizer every day until you realize 2023 has been a nose-dive all thanks to one guy (well 1.5... we shouldve had a GM after the winter meetings)... How does that NOT give you a burning bush - eureka light bulb moment fot you-- Click left, DB stayed, where were the candidates WANTING to be part of a champiionship-defending season and dynasty-in-the-making ballclub/organization?
Tl;dr. Im glad you spent a whole lotta time on that. If you cant hit, you cant win, going back to your original statement about the game tonight.
Agree. Unfortunately, it's also not surprising. It's like rolling the dice if they hit good or not half the time. Makes no sense.
0 runs scored in 11 innings. Next question is, how long with this continue? I’ve seen it go longer. That’s what’s scary.
TLDR? Dusty Baker. D|CK (this is but one of many this season) Its called MISMANAGEMENT Its called stubbornness unwilling to change as technology/time changes us. MF's spirit animal is a GD ostrich. Abreu has been hitting too high up in the lineup (YES, HE HAS EARNED HIS SPOT AT 7/8). Altuve Brantley/Bregman Bregman/Brantley Alvarez Pena/McCormick Tucker McCormick/Pena Abreu/Dubon/Diaz Diaz/Abreu/Dubon Dubon/Maldonado MMP-related (not DB related)..? Change the batter's eye ASAP... should have more contrast
Sucky night but I’m not mad. Astros still lead the division and the offense is still very good. The pitching is above average at worst. Dusty sucks though.
This version of the Astros is straight up weird. Not sure I have ever seen an Astro team this up and down. Couldn't hit the side of a barn against one of the worst teams in baseball. Inexplicable.
