More often than not... Perhaps, but I am a big believer in 2nd chances. Even a 3rd in some circumstances. I don't defend a thing about Porter. His behavior, what he has done and what he is alleged to have done. Don't anybody think I am defending him, but at the same time, having faith that someone can turn their life around is a positive human trait, not a negative one IMO. The Houston FO and whoever else thought he could turn things around should not be criticized. They were wrong. Dead wrong. But I don't care who you are or what your credentials, no one knows the future and no one could know precisely what KPJ would do with his. Again, the likelihood something will occur doesn't mean it will. And I for one have been given 2nd, 3rd & 4th... chances in my life and am thankful for them. KPJ didn't take positive advantage of his additional chances and now the situation is probably entirely out of his hands. The legal system and the NBA will determine things now.
Well... Spoiler don't same-sex relationships have higher domestic violence stats? AH is basically a lesbian who was using JD for money and fame. Men are only a tool for her to get that, while she was only interested in women all along. She probably learned the physical abuse from a same sex relationship. Even women are beating women up in relationships to even higher levels last i read. That's f'ed up. So what's really going on? Lies for sympathy and easy diabolical revenge or they're just so punchable to men and lesbian women assuming the male role in the relationship? Something is wrong somewhere. In a lot of ways, JD also had his violent venting, but it was in the form of tearing up hotel rooms and furniture. The hotel room trashing was probably him just wanting to be like his rock star heroes, but the cabinet smashing and throwing bottles or whatever? That too can be a form of abuse and a pattern that leads to physical violence, but fortunately JD kept his rage aimed at cabinets and doors. AH took that and staged a massive hoax hoping that was enough to get everyone on her side against him. That means now men can't even vent in the slightest and imo its going to lead to more bottled up emotions which leads to a singular outburst that could be far worse. My pops raged at objects throughout my life. Breaking things pretty violently, punching walls, kicking walls. I also saw my mother drive him to that rage as well and watch and laugh and i saw her do some pretty ****ed up stuff too like smashing her head into the bed post to blackmail my pops who screamed for me to wake up and witness. Scary stuff. Thankfully it never got further than that through their married life and they're still happily together. KPj has had tantrums on objects too and i only ever blamed his maturity levels when i'd argue against giving him so many green lights, but like you said, he's gotten into it with people who were supposed to be authority figures in his life so that was a bad pattern.
Why is this depressing? He's always been a F up so not surprising. Not like it was LeBron or Tom Brady and people can't believe the 180. KPJ could pull an OJ and many here would be like, "Yup... I knew it!"
I've so hoped KPJ'd be gone ever since he walked out on our team at halftime. Maybe this will do it. If the league doesn't void his contract, I hope Stone will cut him anyway--regardless how this domestic violence charge disposes in the courtroom. Years ago, my son's high school team was blazing its way through the playoffs. I vividly recall being nervous about our Regionals opponent, ranked #1 at the time. After we trounced them-- they completely lost their composure when we started pulling away-- I asked our now-getting-close-to-1000 career wins Coach, the Texas HS coaching legend, Todd Sutherland, if he'd been as worried about this opponent as I'd been. "No," he said, and then whispered in my ear to keep from offending any eavesdroppers, "I knew those kids had nowhere near the character of our kids." Character matters, maybe more than anything else, on a basketball court and in life in general.
Coach is the leader of the team, he created this atmosphere in the locker room. Didn't Chris Wood go AWOL, or how about KPJ leaving the arena during a game, let me repeat leave in the middle of the game. Coach are like mentors to most players unless your a star player, KPJ is not an All-Star. Remember some Rockets player(s) said the locker room culture is a mess.
It's a bad situation for everyone involved, but from the POV of a Rockets fan, it's nothing that dramatic. KPJ is a talent, and he kind of got to a league-average level, but never really to a star level, and he was a long shot to become one. The impact on the persons involved is 10,000 times bigger than on the team...
The fact that KPJ is a Head (Honcho) case is the only reason we got him for nothing, He was always fools gold.
Yeah it’s a bad look all around. Would definitely need to hear what the Rockets actually did to discipline KPJ during those incidents. We have a culture issue for sure.
Fans can blindly support him like some of his Stans. But it is absolutely inexcusable for the Rockets organization to not foresee the possibility of this and have wasted 3 years on the KPJ pg experiment. Some will say we were tanking anyways. So why does it matter if we wasted 3 years? Somewhat true. But tanking doesn’t mean you can’t have someone else develop at the PG position, someone that FOR SURE is in your future plan. Like Green. I’ve been saying let Green experiment at PG, not because he can be a better PG, but whatever he’s learned as a PG won’t get wasted. Unlike now.
I agree. We were always annoyed how soft the Rockets were on KPJ. I remember one interview that J Lucas gave where he would be very careful how he would talk to KPJ. The man was fragile with anger management issues and the Rockets brass were afraid to trigger him. It should be of no surprise to anybody how other players perceive the Rockets. They really needed a culture reset after they treated Harden like a god, but then Stone and company decided to coddle some unproven players for no freaking reason. Stone should really be on his way out soon. I'm convinced that this offseason it was pretty much Ime Udoka making sure that this team would be steered in the right direction. The irony is that Ime comes with his own baggage, but I do trust that this gentleman has learned from his Celtics experience. Either way, this organization is a mess right now. It's depressing as a fan. I can't wait to be considered a world class organization again in the future. With KPJ out the door, we should be rid of all the malcontents/selfish players and start building a good culture around these kids.
Yeah it’s Kysre’s sister who was arrested for domestic violence (for punching her husband and other things). She’s not gonna do anything tho, because if she was then she wouldn’t be blustering on social media like this
