I see it, too. He’s just a rookie, though. I fully expect him to figure it out over the next few seasons. He wouldn’t be the first pitcher with good stuff to struggle with command early. France’s composure has been quite impressive this season. I am still pissed that Dusty left him out there in that Boston game to get lit up for 10 runs in 2+ innings. I don’t recall ever seeing a pitcher allowed to get shelled like that before. I had to look it up to make sure that it really was 10 earned runs. I started to doubt my memory. Hopefully France can bounce back again after his last outing. I think Hunter needs to skip a few starts.
Last time out, Javier had his best start in months and Dusty ruined it. He had about 80 pitches through 5 shutout innings facing 16 batters and a 1-0 lead Letting him sit right there would have been huge for him. Huge psychological boost and an easy, stress free outing and tremendous confidence into this start. He needed that desperately after the past few months. Instead, not only did he keep him in your start the 6th, but kept him in to get pounded throughout the whole inning, which turned into a 3-1 deficit and a loss. Graveman, Neris, Abreu, and Pressly are all on at least 2 days rest. They need to have the 6th-9th innings tomorrow if Javier can get through 5 innings with a lead. Listen Dusty - no more than 85 pitches. No more than 18 hitters
Command was his biggest issue progressing through the minors also. He will figure it out and be great eventually, but he's running out of time for that to be this year. I really hope Javier can build on his last start and recapture that #3 playoff starter spit and effectiveness. I think Brown needs to be a 1-2 inning pitcher used between 3rd-6th innings in the playoffs
Back at MMP and back to scoring no runs. “weird year” my ass its been like this since we began our run. So frustrating for fans to have such a great team but all their bombing takes place on the road and home games are low scoring turds so often. At least low scoring for the Astros.
I have no illusions of him getting it together this season. I think that ship has sailed. Even Maldy couldn’t straighten him out. Javier has pitched much better his last few starts. I think he has to be the #3 at this point, unless France finishes the year like he started it.
The last time the Astros offense was this significantly better on the road versus home was when they used the trashcans. They played worse when they were cheating which makes all the outrage so ridiculous.
Yea but no one cares about facts, that would damage the media narrative and casual fan outrage. If you never been to the site check out signstealingscandal.com. It’s hilarious how actually underutilized it was and the splits as you mentioned are so one sided they look like complete idiots using it.
Getting a bye and hosting the winner of Minnesota - Toronto (or Seattle) after they've potentially played 3 in a row is still the best route. If they advance, then they'll potentially be on the road at Baltimore.
Is Tucker injured and not playing... I mean I see his jersey # in the game with TUCKER on the back but for some reason his RBIs are still at 99 despite the Astros scoring 42 runs the past 4 games. Asking for a friend.
Finally got to watch the game on MLB TV, problem with 5 SBs given up by Hunt Brown to Joe Urquidy. The 2nd Inning, if Pena caught that ball, Brown would of been out of it. WTF is the pitching coach in the 2nd Inning?!?!?!?!? The manager and coaches played this game like a regular season game, I think the last 3 games in TX spoiled them from slowing the game down against a playoff pitcher in Snell. This goes back to the SBs by the Padres, Brown with 2 Outs basically let the runner go to 2nd base same with Urquidy. Both times, Padres scored. Both pitched with no care with runners on base which is why they shouldn't be on the playoff roster. Leading 6-2, the Padres were stealing bases, I think the Astros with Toothpick 6-2 will just sit pat. Red Sox spanking us that last home game is no fluke. It is better to lose your pants in the 1st game of the series.
Framber had a 5.86 era his first full season. Hunter Brown will be a great pitcher in a couple years. This year though he is exhausted and his control has become a huge problem. Maybe he can be a weapon in the bullpen during the playoffs for 1-2 innings
Yesterday is over. San Diego is a star studded team that can score runs and Snell has a Cy Young and could win a 2nd this season. Bad timing but that loss could have happened at anytime These next 2 games will show what the Astros are made of. I fully expect them to win both and score 12-15 runs. Not domination like the Rangers series, but respectable.
