So you don’t understand how a fan can say “oh my god season over!!” in early May, but still actually have hope? Ok. Thats really on you man. You dont have to be rude and try to attack my intelligence and insult me. If you think emotional fans are always supposed to make sense then that really is on you. This isn’t work or a corporate setting. This is sports fandom. Do you not understand that?
Do you even reverse jinx bro? Or understand sometimes words aren’t used with literal meaning but rather to convey a similar but not exactly the same thought?
That’s stupid. Just laugh it off. You should channel that dark energy where it belongs…….hating Dusty and his stupid moves. If only you got as mad about Dusty as you do about fans saying harmless knee jerk bullshit. Dusty is actually hurting the team, some fan saying something dumb here does nothing to hurt the team. A lot of that bullshit makes me laugh anyway. Dusty’s lineup’s don’t make me laugh.
He clearly doesn’t understand sports fans, in their natural habitat. I really tried to explain it but he’s somehow not catching on. Maybe this is a Millennial thing, no offense to millennials.
You have a tendency to accuse others of doing the exact same thing you just did to them. You did it in this very thread twice now, and I've seen you do it other times, as well. You just told me I didn't understand (after admitting you didn't know what to say, no less), then told me I was attacking your intelligence. Pretty funny that the biggest gaslighter on the board loves to call people narcissistic. Now, on to "how a fan can say “oh my god season over!!” in early May but still actually have hope" and "If you think emotional fans are always supposed to make sense then that really is on you." The problem here is that you continue to conflate being emotional with being dumb. They are not the same thing, and they are not synonymous; not in sports, not in fandom, not in the corporate setting nor at work. There are lots of posters here and tons fans all over Houston and the world who are emotional, but manage not to be married to completely idiotic and logically, literally false statements such as "a fan can say “oh my god season over!!” in early May but still actually have hope". Almost no one who has watched a game with me or sat near me at The Juice Box has been more emotional during said game. That doesn't mean I have to be dumb... At least not every game :} Do you not understand that?
What I dont understand is your entire argument. I guess you want everyone to be 100% literal so that there are no gray areas for you. This is tough in the world of sports fandom. Now, I just used a mere example when I said the early may thing, and I dont recall ever saying anything harsher than “we just can’t turn the corner” but I have a good chuckle at those that make those knee jerk comments. I love those comments. I come here for that kind of levity. I take nothing serious here. I don’t tell people how to root for their team, but I do take issue with fans that do. It’s arrogant and it makes the board stuffy.
I try to avoid saying anything that would qualify as a jinx or reverse jinx, as they are usually kneejerks or unintelligent proclamations, but are you seriously saying the folks filling the game threads with #NotOurYear and #SeasonOver have been reverse jinxing the whole time? Weird, because when they get served up a pile of crow - which is on an embarrassingly regular basis - they always forget to mention that.
And I get a chuckle when those people get humiliated on a near-nightly basis, causing them to accuse others off arrogance because they've been exposed as the fans they aren't. Allow me to demonstrate: Isn't it interesting that the thing that makes me chuckle usually corresponds with the Astros winning, while the thing that makes you chuckle usually corresponds with the Astros losing? It's getting pretty stuffy in here, someone ought to open up a window!
You think people get “humiliated” in here? That’s pretty dramatic. Lighten up Francis, for your own good.
The guy defending saying the season is over in May and captain of the Daily Kneejerks is accusing someone else of being dramatic! Wow! That is down right... well... humiliating... I just have to say, the occasional hilarious irony of your posts is one of the little joys of this bbs. You definitely have a certain comedic versatility, and I thank you for it! You failed to adress my question, so I'll repeat it for ya: Isn't it interesting that the thing that makes me chuckle usually corresponds with the Astros winning, while the thing that makes you chuckle usually corresponds with the Astros losing?
I didn’t answer because it’s silly. I chuckle at all of it. If it’s funny in any way, I will laugh. I actually only get mad at dusty’s stupid moves and losing winnable games. Also, I chuckle at your notion that people feel humiliated on here. That’s just silly.
First rule of reverse jinx is you can’t talk about reverse jinx. Second rule of reverse jinx is see first rule of reverse jinx. also- the do you even reverse jinx bro is used in the same form as “do you even lift bro” which is a rip off that a joke is coming. On a more substantive note see the last half of the post explaining words not meant to be taken literally.

I was humiliated yesterday when I was talking about lineups against LhP and I had the wrong starter on the mound.
I’m only going to be positive from now on. So, it is amazing that the Astros have multiple All Star level bats available to pinch hit - no other team in the pennant race has that luxury!
Let me give it a try…. The Astros suck and their season is definitel… Damnit. That wasn’t going well. Harder than I thought. I will try again later.
