I never hated on Brooks like most here did. I saw him as a solid 3&D guy that could hit big shots, and I expect more of the same with the Rockets.

I wish Dillon Brooks would accept 24 minutes and only shoot 6.4 FGA/game.

Some good - some bad stats:

    [ Good ]
    53.8% (3P%)...on 2.6 (3PA)...2.4 Ast...1.4 stls (in 24 mins)

    [ Bad ]
    2.6 rebs.....1.6 TOV (in 24 mins)

Yep. That would be fine especially if he plays great defense when he is on the court.

"Doncic paced Slovenia with 26 points before being ejected for his second technical foul with 6:37 remaining in the fourth quarter. Canada's Dillon Brooks — who was also ejected in the contest — was impressive on the defensive side of the ball, limiting Doncic to an 8-for-20 shooting performance."

This is the type of play we need from him and I believe this is what we will get on a regular basis. He will be a leader for the young guys and get them to buy in on the defensive end. We already know Ime will demand this of them to get minutes. I have a feeling we are going to surprise this year and be a really tough team.

    IDAT?

    (it deserved another thread?)

I think Brooks will be inefficient over 82 games AND give us the defensive spark we are looking for.

I do not think that is worth his contract, however there was no opportunity cost as far as I know --- this offseason.

The real kicker will be what his salary looks like in 2 years versus what the Rockets are trying to do.

The term is the issue. If we keep starting threads every time Dillon has a good & bad game get ready for good times.

Oh, I didn't recognize OP. I actually like listening to the pod from time to time. But still, too much Brooks in the GARM recently.

If you cannot see thru that, they use the threads to get back at others, media and other posters.

    For those ego trips.

Giving the video a watch now.

Well, it's a good discussion of all of the things we want from Dillon Brooks. #wewillsee

We also wanted things from Russell Westbrook once upon a time.

Russell WB actually had a good season, the Rockets just moved too many pieces to accommodate him.

He is just not that great in the Playoffs unfortunately and not high IQ wise. That was known though.

Harden is good or a mixed bag there as well.

In 2 years Brooks will be making $21mil and estimated cap for that year is $164mil. Which makes his salary 7.8% of the cap. For reference, non-taxpayer MLE for each season is 7.5% of the cap. So in 2 years he will have a contract that is worth the MLE. Players signed in this range this year include Gabe Vincent, Dave DiVincenzo, and Matisse Thybulle. So you if you don't care about his money this year, then you REALLY shouldn't care about his money in 2 years.

It's a fair point, but moreso if we don't consider the fact that the entirety of the young core is going to be up for their first non-rookie contracts at that point, and we should hope to be contenders at that point. $20M / 7.5% of the cap is a significant figure when the difference between first and second apron level of the cap is $10M. "How to burn assets to get rid of Dillon Brooks" isn't one of the top things you want to be focused on. When you're a contender 7.5% of the cap matters significantly more than when you are rebuilding. Just ask Tilman why he signed Ennis and Carter-Williams in 2019 and let Ariza walk for $15M.

I guess there's no point in debating it now, as time will tell. All I can do now is hope to be wrong.

The game they lost was because Brooks got cooked by the tiny Brazilian PG in back to back clutch possessions. He's good at holding big wings but gets cooked when switched on quick guys.

Brooks is the second most important player for Canada after SGA.

They would get Jamal Murray back in the future and depending on his mood and circumstances maybe Andrew Wiggins.

The signs continue that this team is turning a corner. I'm not calling for the chip just yet but there's a real reason to believe this team could make the playoffs this year. From Summer league to FIBA, even the clips of FVV big bro-ing Jalen there's a lot of good to start building this team.

This team needed a snarling ******* in the worst way. Too many babyfaces, too used to trying to lose. If he's gonna go ahead and be a selectively effective offensive player too? I'm here for it man.
