Im really glad for Wood because I feels as though he is a talented player, just needs to play for the right coach. But I hate it with a passion because I hate, hate the Lakers and I feel that they have had an AWESOME off season that many are failing to see. Resigned Reaves and Rui, C. Wood, Jaxson Hayes, and Cam Reddish. One thing for sure, they understand the importance of hieght and length. The Rockets, not so much! Would have loved to have C Wood back or Jaxson Hayes in a Rockets uni

"30 yr coach: John Lucas will get Wood to play better defense and set a proper screen on offense." "Jason Kidd is a hard nose coach, will get Wood to play better defense. And bench Wood if he has to" "It's different in L.A., because Wood never played under defensive coach: D. Ham and Phil Handy". "HOU didn't have a Luka, there's a hierarchy here in DAL." "DAL doesn't have Lebron and AD, the a hierarchy is different in LAL." "It's Wood's contract year, he'll buy in here in DAL". ... HOU: $13,666,667 (2021-22) DAL: $14,317,459 (2022-23) DAL doesn't renew... LAL: ~$5m (2023-25). "Reduced salary, he'll definitely play defense now right? For the next contract? right.. ?"
Wood better get use to the idea of being a catch and shoot player, otherwise, he will find himself on the bench for the year. Certain players you just can't fix. He played with one of the best P&R players in the league last year and he still couldn't set a solid screen to save his life. He also should have been the starter, but he refused to play defense and instead found himself in a 7th - 8th man role. I don't expect anything to change this season.
Great get for the Lakers. He fits in well there. Pretty damning though that a guy that will give you 20/10 with starter minutes on great efficiency can only get a small contract like this. He's a defensive liability, but obviously concerns about his character have to be weighing him down too. Also crazy how well the Lakers have completely rebuilt themselves.
As long as the Lakers go into the season with the mentality that Wood can be dumped at a moments notice it's a good deal. Maybe he'll decide to actually care and be professional for a season (I sure as hell don't expect it), for a team with a veteran locker room it's an obvious move to make with high upside and little downside.
It's insane how much money he has cost himself by never learning from his own mistakes anywhere he has ever been. It's mind boggling actually. The dude is his own worst enemy.
There are people like this. They don't think like normal people. Another poster in here said he had prostitution issues...bad ones. Worse than just propositioning sex. Not sure what that meant but he's clearly not a sound in the mind individual.
I think there is more to that. He does not have a proper reputation, reputation is important. I am thinking this has to be about organization trusting those head cases less and less. KPJ is never going to get a big contract if he does not mature, it is the same thing, even if he does, there is a dark cloud hanging over him. I hope he gets it together otherwise there would not be trade interest generated.
Signing a player that makes the Lakers worse is always a good thing what is he like the 5th option on the depth chart behind their list of frontcourt players. lol
2nd year is a players option. 2023-24 Estimate $2,709,849 2024-25 Player $3,036,040 (deadline 6/29/2024)
CWood basically told the world that Ham told him he was going to have a big role. I bet Ham didn't say that at all. Cwood starting early, lol
