I didn't get to watch the game, I had a FF draft. Did the throw need to be out in front of Collins more?
It's changing, but teams that have QB's that can make plays from the pocket are the teams that are winning championships.
@cmoak1982 Ohio State is finding it hard to replace CJ Stroud, so far. Maybe OSU can't just roll the ball out there and insert any QB behind center.
Right...the way he's being used, Tank is definitely our secret weapon in special teams. I expect a TD return or chuck return yardage.
Only 1 completion was the difference between AR being a 55% passer and 60% passer in college. I think its too early to make a definitive claim on either end, but one AWESOME Georgia game does not mean Stroud is all of a sudden a threat to need a spy. CJ can pick up some first downs and keep the chains moving with his legs, but did you see any designed runs for him this preseason or any RPO concepts? I like how he steps up in the pocket and remains poised, but his escapeability is still a question mark. I would just keep CJ in his comfort zone with quick, short passes as they are just as good and keep him in rhythm.
It’s all subjective of course, but you have a more hostile tone and tend to do a lot of name calling so people generally are going to be less receptive to your analysis, right or wrong.
Being fans can bring out the worst in all of us at times. I think everyone here has the same expectations. Some guys are ready to go head over heels again and some guys have been jaded by the cycle of abuse and are taking the cautiously optimistic approach. I think there can be a compromise somewhere in between. Personally Im stoked to fire up the pit and get into my football routine. We all have something to look forward to maybe not in the win column, but in the building of a sustainable contending team and that all starts this Sunday. See y'all in the game thread!
Do you consider Mahomes a pocket QB? History is on your side on this topic, but I think the position has been evolving for a while. When LJ came out everyone said he'd bust and should be moved to WR and then he won the MVP. The exotic defenses and blitz packages have made it almost mandatory to have a guy that can scramble a little bit. If you have a player that can take the top off with his legs and his arm its a gambit for DCs because then you can run so many different packages where you keep the D on its heels with the QB as a running threat. Obviously if you have receiving stars like CIN/MIA then you can trot out a pocket passer without the need to use him in a secondary capacity. I'll be curious to see how the sport continues to evolve and how it impacts the QB position.
I do name call, to very specific posters. Most of the time I show equal aggression and don’t start it. There are a couple here that are genuinely not good people and I have no sympathy for. I actually like your posts. A lot I agree with.
