That quote seems imply that Alvarez was going to be in LF today and Brantley DH but they scratched that due to his continued soreness.

Astros #1 priority should be making Eovaldi throw at least 15 pitches ( preferably 20+) in the 1st inning. That should all but guarantee he doesn't go more than 4 innings. That leaves at least 5 innings for that bullpen to cover.
He played yesterday. That should be good for a week, but if not he can come in for Pena in the 8th inning of an Astros 24-4 lead today.
