Zelensky fires his defense minister.....yikes. it's funny how some folks here claim the ukrianians have made no mistakes while their own generals claim there's been mistakes made in the counter offensive
Cute but no 60 second spot will change the history of war or specifically modern "Blitzkrieg"for the poor Ukrainians. For a detailed analysis of the history of offensives like the one Ukraine is attempting by one of the top several International Relations Specialists who turns out to be a West Point Grad and student of warfare, too https://mearsheimer.substack.com/p/bound-to-lose
A cheap off the shelf cardboard drone taking out $100 millions worth of Russian planes ... Oh, that has just gotta hurt.
If there was a vacuum in swaying opinion, I would love to see a debate between Mearsheimer and Kotkin or an archived correspondance several years after the war. They seem to stand on opposite sides but bring a lot of detail/insight to their thoughts. Both would likely agree China is the closer existential threat even if the details are different.
Oh my ****ing God did you just cite Mearsheimer? The same guy that said UKR would be steamroller in a month? The guy who said UKR would capitulate in weeks? The guy who said putin would never invade attack kyiv before the war?
How can you effectively clear mines - is it airpower? Dropping large cluster munitions to take out a mine field? In WW2 they attached mine clearing chains to the front of tanks and they spun those chains around as it moved forward - and it destroyed the mines creating a safe pathway, but right now, you would be killed by the spinning chains. Dragons teeth can also be crushed, but I think a lot of this gets easier once the Ukraine has air superiority. DD
Ukraine has mine clearing equipment includind the MICLIC from the US. The problem is Russian artillery. It's hard to clear mines or do anything under artillery fire. That's the big problem and Ukraine doesn't have a realistic solution to the artillery problem. They destroy some artillery when they find it with a drone, etc. To really make an impact they need air power and piles of cruise missiles to overwhelm Russian air defenses.
