Ricky might be the most underrated recent player of all time by casual baseball fans, to most of whom he is just a goofy speed demon. Among modern era batters, the only players with more WAR are Bonds, Mays, Aaron, Musial and A-Rod. Even including pitchers and pre-integration players he is 19th all time. Just an absolute stud...
Two things: Did you go to the Omegang Brewery while in Cooperstown? Even though the road into Cooperstown is slow, you get a beautiful view of the lake. I'm lucky I only live about an hour from Cooperstown. And, have been lucky enough to play on Doubleday Field with my men's over 50 baseball team. The town is great, the hall of fame is also great but only for a day.
No, I mostly just stuck to the main drag. I did go to the Art Museum before I left (Big Unit actually has his own gallery right now). For a secondary museum in a small town I thought it was actually pretty impressive. They had a wax museum too, but honestly they creep me the f**k out so I didn't go. I drove in from the west, so I didn't do the lakeview drive. I arrived before the HOF opened, so I got a nice walk around the town, and I did spend some time at the lakefront park taking in the view. The rolling hills in the distance, and the (somewhat rundown) architecture of the villages does make for a far more scenic drive than a born and raised Texan is used too....albeit very slow. I agree it's a single day trip, and very much for baseball people. I was fairly deliberate at the BBHOF myself, and I was still on my way out of town by about 1:30 local time. I also took in Niagara Falls (and my first train ride) since I was in upstate NY anyway.
Niagara Falls 1/2 a day trip. But Andersons in Buffalo has the best Beef on Wick around. I'm out there a lot. In-laws live there. Hope you didn't waste your money at dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse.
"Weck". I only know this because it was in the original BW3's name: "Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck" before they rebranded as BWW.
Dodgers fans complaining about how it tainted their memory of 2020 world series since urias got the last out.
just also noticed Ramon Laureano is now with the guardians. they've just became a little less likeable.
The city attorney in an official statement announced it would “defer prosecution of Mr. Urias on the following conditions “(1) that Mr. Urias participate in a City Attorney hearing; (2) that he commit no acts of violence against anyone; and 3) that he successfully participate in and complete a 52 week domestic violence counseling program in person, and in a group setting.” “We are deferring prosecution at this time because: 1) this incident did not result in any physical injury; 2) the victim at no point indicated to either the uniformed police officers or to civilian witnesses that she believed she was a victim; and 3) Mr. Urias has no record of prior criminal conduct.” https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodg...ery-charges-city-attorney-20190603-story.html This new incident, "suspected felony domestic violence" is a whole different thing.
I'm hitting up the HOF in a few weeks myself. Doing a driving tour of New England (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and ending up in New York with Cooperstown and Finger Lakes).
