We gave all that money to a guy who needs to take 7 shots per game to be a positive influence. No way he wouldn’t be better off just giving Tari/Cam/Amen more minutes.

Brooks looked bad in those last 2 defensive possessions. Barrett or Shai needed to step up.

Brooks will have his moments, but I'm still not convinced. His talk lately is still delusional.

If overpaying Brooks is the price of having Udoka as coach then so be it.

I don't think Brooks was necessary, they just needed a tough veteran and cap space to spend.

I could think of guys like Bruce Brown, Middleton, Strus, Vincent, Niang....

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again….KJM is 1000 times better at 1/20th the price. The Rockets made their biggest mistake in franchise history by letting this guy go for nothing and signing this waste of space for 87 million dollars. Whoever made that decision should be fired on the spot.

This is what happens when you give coaches say in personal decisions. We got what we deserved

I can't really imagine not rather seeing Tari get any minute Brooks gets.

Agreed. But I give Udoka a pass. Stopping the Harden signing cancels out the Brooks deal.

In the long run, coaches having too much say in personnel decisions is not a good thing. But I'd much rather have Udoka than Tilman/Patrick meddling.

We know with 100% certainty now that udoka is an idiot with personal. At this point i’d rather have tilman or patrick meddling, though ultimately they’re all horrible so who cares

His ceiling to me is glue guy & defensive stopper. If he is outstanding at both of these, he will be a very good player and sought out by many.

    Nope. Not a franchise player.

Kjm is a bottom 5% defender which is why he is a hugely negative overall player even though the dunks make fans think he’s good. Brooks is far better player it isn’t close.

Harden at least brings some people into attendance.

Brooks is just a chucking Hercules without much IQ. There is calmer side to Dillon when he mentors youngin off the court and the on court persona.

Cancelling each other out virtually signals - nothing much changed sans Van Vleet.

I would argue he would have caused some folks to miss attendance also.

    Pretty much this

If he can flirt with being 1st team all NBA defense or maintain his current 2nd team status for first two yrs of contract then he will be worth the deal, especially if he keeps his fg attempts to what he is showcasing with his Canada team

He just needs to bring that focus and tenacity like he did in that one clip guarding Curry, which was ultimate lockdown style, if I were Udoka that defensive clip is all I would show to him daily this upcoming training camp, tell him to play Tucker style(wide open 3s) with cutting to basket for layups n dunks

If he has not been sought after after 27 years of age, good chance he would not be after that.....

The physical condition of a human starts deteriorating by age 27.....right where he is now.

The Rockets and 1 or 2 other teams were his so called suitors, the Rockets were the only one willing to go above and beyond.

The Grizz were saying, a decent player but good riddance of his trash talking big mouth.

I said he would have to be outstanding at both...

He hasn't had the opportunity to prove that one way or the other for the Rockets.
And I don't care too much what he did on another team in the past.
Its what he can and will do for the Rockets that counts to me.

For completeness from the other side, can’t leave out,

Brooks: Can someone explain to me why he has become Clutchfans favorite whipping boy?”

That is where I disagree, I do not associate the word 'outstanding' with Brooks.

He is a serviceable player and has his flashes of defensive brilliance but I think Memphis did play a defensive style that highlighted a lot of his abilities but putting it on a brand new team things are different.

He is not going to get the minutes or the space to fully unravel what he has, therefore lessen his mistakes, lessen his fouling but also do not highlight his abilities as much.

A middling player on a middling team.

I think Udoka has to experiment as a 1 year coach as well.

I expect therefore a lot of Ups and Downs, a version of Team Canada but with more shots.
