Given where we were when Harden quit & Morey's idiot China comments, and NOW with our great young talent, cap space & solid coaching, a mediocre GM couldn't pull that off in 3 years. It doesn't apply
It was 0.500 basketball until the playoffs, and then they got swept by the first seed in the first round. So you saying those 5 yrs rebuilding under Morey was the time of your life? I mean remember when Stone tried to make do with the Wow Factor? That's basically the Morey way I didn't see you being sad we moved away from that.
I am saying it was competitive basketball for 5 years with the hope of eventually improving. Which we did via trade for Harden. I could watch .500 basketball and feel there was a chance to win that day. At no point did I feel that way the last 3 years unless we played crappy teams. Will those 3 years payoff? I certainly hope so, but with Morey we were competitive the whole time. The WOW factor didn't achieve anything resembling the success of Morey's rebuild. It was bad low level basketball with no chance to compete. Maybe Stone will finally start bearing fruit this year but for 3 years it was basketball purgatory. With Morey it was watchable basketball that eventually yielded competitive assets to trade for a superstar and made us relevant for the next 8 years and almost beat a dynasty if not for NBA crookedness and a flimsy hammy.
I’m curious what you think Morey’s way of rebuilding was, because if it was up to him, he would’ve tanked just as hard as stone if previous owner Leslie allowed him to tank.
Morey may have been forced to do it that way but I am glad he did. Thanks Leslie! On the other hand, F Fertits and his dismantling of a contender too early and the last 3 years of bball hell. Im hopeful we will no longer be garbage this year and like our young guys, but boy, it was torture to watch.
It's harsh, but Stone needs to be fired after this KPJ debacle. The Rockets were already a laughing stock, but we've somehow reached a new low. Hopefully Fertitta will see this as necessary to establish the right type of culture with these young men going forward.
Tilman's not firing Stone. C'mon. Even without KPJ, we're sitting pretty with a real good coach, flexibility, oodles of talent, and future assets.
I think once the dust settles with KPJ being ultimately cut, Stone will be next to go. He vouched a little too hard for KPJ to not be held accountable, he will probably at least have to fight for his job with Tilman.
Doesn’t make sense. If KPJ is guilty it will more than likely void his contract. He’ll be an employee who didn’t work out. It also frees up PT for our rookies. Problem solved itself.
You are very harsh, do you not think and realize that we are all sinners, God loves us all even though we do so many things against his will. God is Love and Forgiveness, WE should do the same, Yetti
unfortunately Tilman is actually part of the problem. The damage to our organizational reputation over the last 3 years has been so significant, including all of the catering and enabling of KPJ. Tilman not only went along with it, he wrapped his arms around it. The org doesn’t care about character and it’s really hurt us: “In my six years of having this basketball team, there's no player that I've enjoyed more talking (to) off the court, even during the games, than Kevin Porter”
Decent track record with draft so far but questionable "culture" decisions (trade/signings/hires) with KPJ and Ime. It seems he likes to go after the reclamation project but as he's finding out now there is massive risk involved. I really hope Ime grows from his experiences and flourishes.
I think Ime just succumbed to being attracted to women in the working environment, it is fixable. But he is not the messiah.
Bro we got Green, Sengun, Jabari, Amen, Tari, and Whitemore KPJ was a talented guard and one of the best 3pt shooters in the league. Lots of sports organizations have turned a blind eye for talent Leave Stone alone. The man did such a fantastic rebuild Udoka signed here literally like the next day after the season ended
Tilman saying those things is part of the reason I think Stone may be fired. He looks like an absolute fool saying that in light of what’s happened. If this story gains more media spotlight than it already has, you can bet domestic violence and women’s groups will be on Tilman’s ass. Somebody will have to take the blame, and I doubt it will be Tilman or Patrick. This could easily go the way of the Astros with the cheating scandal and the owner needing to fire the coach and GM. Nobody wanted or expected that to happen until it did.
It was Tilman who said KPJ was his favorite player. Stone’s going nowhere. He should be fired for giving KMJ and JGup away for zippo. He sucks and always has as a GM.
