SMU is expected to come in for nine years with no broadcast media revenue, sources told ESPN

SMU buying its way into the P5 is the most SMU thing ever.

I like SMU because they actually have the balls to have a Div 1 men’s soccer team.

No hate intended. They're putting their money where their mouth is. Good for them.

The non revenue programs, and even basketball at these schools are taking it up the pipe having to deal with these absurd conferences.

They should honestly just separate football altogether, who is creating this issue, but having to deal with it the least having only a few road games a year. It's ridiculous having students fly across the country and back for conference games.

Yeah it's just a texas thing. To have an equal ratio of scholarships male/female it goes to other sports. Which means my son playing down the line will be leaving the state to do so. Which is fine, I just wish he had more options in texas.

Right? Imagine being a tennis player from California who chose USC, in part, because you'd be close to home. It's insane that they'll now be expected to travel to Rutgers for a weekend.

Maybe there should be a football-only conference for this new era and regional conferences for everything else while schools pay for their other programs with football and basketball TV revenue.

Actually, if SMU killed a hooker first and then bought their way into P5...that would be the most SMU thing ever.

Once UT is in that conference, the things I will hate the most are having to listen to in pregames and such, in no particular order:

    Paul Finebaum
    Pat MacAfee
    ...
    Pat MacAfee
    Marty Smith
    ...

Can't really blame them but this won't end well.

Will be interesting to see if Clemson and a few others join in. Hard to imagine a scenario where they are truly stuck for the next 13 years.
