I mean seriously, this one has never grown on me. It's as bland as bland could be. The least they could do is alter the color scheme (a bunch of teams have red as their primary color, we aren't special). The uniforms have gotten better since the Yao era but still lack imagination. Yao, whose presence inspired the uni change, is long gone as a player and it's time to abandon the logo and color scheme that accommodated him. Do like most franchises and go back to your roots and wear the colors from your glory years, in this case red and yellow for us. We need some kind spark to invigorate the franchise and energize the fanbase, this is where it starts.
Well the championship color scheme was red, gold and white. I think 90% of Clutchfans would like to go back to that permanently. My one exception that I would throw in the mix was the NASA inspired jerseys. Those were dope AF. In my opinion they need just 3 jerseys. 1. Predominantly Red, with Gold and White trim. 2. Predominantly White, with Gold and Red trim. 3. NASA jerseys. And to address the logo, just go back to the championship logo though I would like to see someone come up with just a slightly modernized twist to it. Something to just bring it up a notch or two without losing the essence of it.
The gauntlet of symbolic gauntlets was thrown down: the epic offseason logo and/or uniform thread. Be wary, brass. Be very wary.
The Space Pajamas? Hail no! As much as I find this look bland it's a considerable upgrade over whatever we were trotting out there post-championship and pre-Yao.
This is the person who designed our logo. I’m not kidding. https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/502676/6-facts-about-legendary-designer-eiko-ishioka
I like the classic ketchup and mustard with nostalgic logo best but will buy just about anything they put out. I say that but I am not a fan of the San Diego green & gold. I understand the marketing but it was a reach for me. The Oiler blue was nice. My hope is this is the last year of the bleeding “R” and losing as a whole. New look and team next year. Save the marketing for when the franchise is ready. We are close but not there yet.
I'm fairly certain that every year in Clutchfans history there has been an offseason logo or jersey redesign thread - and the results are ALWAYS better than the actual jerseys. This would be one of the first great things Tilman could do for the franchise. And a rebuild feels like the right time.
