28 game sprint to finish the season and we are healthier than we've been all year.
    I like our chances

No, Dusty is a big believer in it. It’s why he’s never been allowed to have a LhRP in the playoffs. They don’t want him to use his mediocre lefties they want him to use his good righties that are good at getting LHH out.

Are any of the Angels waiver players eligible and worth a qualifying offer?

Being claimed would make them ineligible, but none would come close to being worth it.

They clear waivers and can be claimed thursday 8/31 before midnight so should be fine.

"There’s no longer any way for a club to make deals at this part of the calendar but players are still playoff eligible if they join an organization prior to September 1. That means they may find interest on the waiver wire, so long as the claiming club is willing to take on the salary of the player in question." This was in reference to the Angels players put on waivers. Its nice that we are ahead of the angels and mariners so we can snag anyone before it gets to them.

I like the Astros schedule better too.

After today the Rangers have 3 vs Oak, but 17 vs teams w/ winning record and LAA and Cle are next worse teams on their schedule.

Seattle has 3 vs NYM and 3 vs Oak, but 20 against teams w/ winning record including 4 vs TB and 3 vs Dodgers.

And they play each other 7 of the last 10 games of the season.

The Astros only have 9 games vs teams w/ winning record and 3 of those are Sea and 3 are Tex . Also 15 vs teams w/ losing records including 6 vs KC and 3 vs Oak.

The Astros also have every Thursday off the rest of the season while Tex and Sea both play long stretches of games and only have 2 days off after tomorrow.

...and yet Dusty seems oblivious that Meyers and Dubon can't hit RHPs, but murder LHPs.

Let me ask you a question, why was our bull pen so gassed after we got Graveman?

    Consecutive games? Extra inning games?
Stanlik took a few games leave? Injuries?

    All of the above?

Im sure you are right about Dusty.....team is crazy.

Put me in the group that thinks Montero is bad and way over paid. I would take Moore over him in our bull pen

But he would not replace Montero.

Bryan Abreu, Brown, France, Framber, Urquidy, and Javier are the only pitchers on the current 26 man who can be sent to AAA.

If a waiver claim is made, can they wait till Friday to put him on the roster?

Biggest changes* since the all star break have probably been Chas going from playing 67% of the time to about 85% of the time and Diaz from 50% to about 75%. Meyers and Julks are the biggest losers in PAs.

*Not counting everyone except Alvarez and Julks hitting better than they did in the first half.

I know, point being there are targets worth sitting or replacing. Imo. I always see our bull pen as an adventure. I laugh at those saying, "No, we good."

Option France or Javier for administrative purposes... call him up less than 24 hours later for expanded roster. As long LMJ is on the IL... anyone is really playoff eligible

I believe a pitcher must stay down for at least 15 days before being brought back up unless someone from 26 man is put on IL.

He wasn’t pitching the guys at the. It ton of the bullpen enough, plus he did **** like being in Nerris in 8 run games or pitch Presley with a 4 run lead.
As of a couple weeks ago our starters averaged the second longest average starting spots and it was over 5, so it wasn’t like they weren’t giving us enough length, he was just overusing the leverage guys trying to avoid using Montero, Stanek, and Martinez.

You're waaay overthinking this. I mean, I didn't have Chas in the core, either - and the guy has a .near 900 OPS. Here's how my core works: would I rather Altuve/Bregman/Alvarez/Tucker miss a game? Or Diaz? Diaz. 10000000000000000000%. So, yeah - obviously he's a vital component of what they're doing today/tomorrow, and he's an exciting piece. But no one else on this roster approaches those top 4, in terms of how vital they are to the team's success.

Opposing teams thank him for playing Dubon and Meyers against RHPs, now and later.

My memory is a littler fuzzy on how this works but I think a waver claim includes the existing contract. A player who has cleared waivers has no such encumbrances so I suspect none of these guys will be claimed. Maybe someone who understands the process better can explain it more clearly.

It is certainly a choice to only play 4 elite players when 9 are available.
