Yes. It's a live ball, just like one thrown past the base into the OF or past the catcher or wherever. If the throw goes out of bounds (dugout, stands) the runners get the base they're advancing to plus one more.
sorry, let me rephrase my question. if the wild throw hit the netting, does the runner get the automatic advance to 2nd? or like you said, it's a live ball and the runner has to read the play? because the netting wasn't there back then and it goes into the crowd, the runner get auto advance, no?
