Jesus dude, you literally just said “stroud isn’t making these plays, sorry” it was 10 plays, I said ok about 2 of them but then asked if you thought he couldn’t make the other 8. I think you are the one arguing with yourself.
Got accepted to the council of PA(pre draft analysis) Found some quotes from a quick Google search so I apologize in advance for not providing links. “He is also a very good athlete who could legitimately be a decent NFL runner” sbn “He's a good athlete for the position, allowing him to scramble and extend the play as well as hurt defenses on his own after escaping the pocket.” Chris Pflun -Sbn “His mobility is outstanding, as is his feel for the rush as demonstrated by his pressure-to-sack rate (14.1%)” apc “Stroud prefers to hang in the pocket and pass, he’s more than capable of scrambling and running when forced to do so” Apc “Above-average athlete; good speed, quick twitch to get out of the pocket.” Bleacher report “Stroud offers an impressive blend of size, passing-game instincts, and mobility to make him a dynamic player” Thedraftnetwork “Stroud is a traditional pocket passer who shows enough mobility to buy time in the pocket and has enough straight-line speed to make defenses pay if they ignore him” cbs sports
I should have put the numbers, I’m talking about the scrambling and throws on the run. Which is literally all I’ve said negative about Stroud. Not once have I said anything about his arm
The last one is the only one that’s remotely accurate. There’s also several more you’ve left out that don’t try and gas him up
You’re appealing to analysts to bolster your minority opinion and then asking us to ignore every single analyst that disagrees with your opinion. At best that’s extreme bias, at worst it’s bad faith.
No that would be the guy scouring reports to fit the narrative that Stroud is mobile. He is a pocket QB, plain and simple. So is Mills an athlete or mobile? Is he a runner? He’s ran more frequently than Stroud and ran a 4.58 on video. Strouds tape, literally 99% of it shows an average at best NFL athlete at QB. You can want him to be Burrow, Mahomes, Rodgers or any other mobile pass first QB, but you can want in one hand and crap in the other to see which one fills up first. He will be able to pick up yards when they’re given, like literally every QB in the AFC. But he won’t ever be a playmaker like Burrow, Allen, Mahomes
All I need is CJ to be intentful and able to understand WHEN to run and do it quickly - preferably on 3rd and short/medium situations. We were dead last last year in plays run per game due to so many damn 3 and outs. Need to extend drives and give the offense a chance to impact games. CJ is not some middle school gym teacher out there he can move well enough to warrant a spy in those situations. I find it interesting that for so long the pocket passer was a preferred attribute and now it has become a narrative.
Since mobility and wiggle is obviously the most important parts when comparing QB’s, I don’t know why we didn’t trade everything for Lamar Jackson. He must be @cmoak1982 favorite QB. The most athletic, which means the best. And will be the only thing we refer to when talking positively or negatively.
Im saying Stroud can make all of those throws Burrow showed and be just as elusive. Joe is very good but not great but Inthink Stroud has a chance to be great if he can get more weapons.
Yep, that’s what I’ve said. Exactly. Unbunch your panties and let go of your pearls. I am and will always be a pass first guy at QB, but the ability to play off schedule and make plays when not on time is more important not than ever. I don’t want a run first QB, never have and never will. But the days of traditional pocket QBs like Stroud are numbered
You’re wrong. He can make the throws but he is nowhere as elusive as Burrow. Only a fool would think that
Levis is 10 times the athlete Stroud is. With a better arm. That is why I’d take him over Stroud. But, wouldn’t have taken either at 2. Your projection is failing, Bryce was my guy at 2. Doesn’t fit the narrative that you want does it?
He's also 10 times less accurate which you always leave out of the equation. I don't think Stroud is as elusive as Burrow currently, but Burrow was also 3+ years older when he came to the NFL, so I'm not ready to say that Stroud is incapable just yet because he does have the base level of athleticism to get there.
Cmoak1982 I think it’s fair to say that you have a bias that affecting your ability to objective from my point of view.. It is clear from the start of the pre-draft process that you hate the kid as a QB. I believe you have a hard time getting past that hate for some reason. It’s affecting your objectivity. It difficult for folks to take you seriously and I can see why. Look, I wasn’t fully on CJ Stroud train Pre-draft and I still have a lot of question marks about him. However, I can acknowledge the kid does have some talent and potential to be a great QB. He can also be a flop, but the game has to be played to answer those questions…. It’s clear from the beginning that you just don’t like him as a QB. My suggestion is to just leave it at that and stop arguing with folks.
No, I haven’t left out anything. I’ve said Stroud is elite when it comes to accuracy. No, Burrow and Stroud don’t have the same base level of athleticism. They may have similar long speed in a straight line. That’s about it. And if your premise is Stroud will get more elusive in the league, why wouldn’t Levis be more accurate?
