Why doesn't Morey get the same criticism Stone did?

Coddling Harden and trading Chris Paul are the only issues I have with him

A GM is evaluated based on what they are given vs. how they handle it, For Philly they turned Ben Simmons into Harden, and they likely should get more of a return for Harden than Ben Simmons. Worst case they lose him for nothing, and letting Ben Simmons walk would not have been a huge deal given his negative value contract. If Embiid wants out, I don't think there was a whole lot any other GM could have done to help them. Embiid gets injured often, and last year he went down at the worst time. Overall, he's handled the Harden situation poorly, but it won't cost the team a whole lot than it would have otherwise. What Morey took over, there was not a whole lot he could do, bringing in Harden was swinging for the fenses, but what were the true alternatives that would have kept Embiid happy? You cant trade Simmons for draft assets or young undeveloped guys because they have a small window to win.

A lot of Philly's issues were inherited, when you have a fake MVP built of glass that you are forced to build around.

Are you asking why aren't CFs whining about Morey and Stone equally? Or why aren't 6ers fans whining about Morey as much as CFs are about Stone?

You guys who feel a strong compulsion to defend Fertitta or Stone need to at least wait until the Rockets make a WCF. Otherwise it's gonna fall on deaf ears.

 

Are you familiar with a front office position known as "owner"? Why do you think Morey, Harden, Dantoni, Paul left the franchise?

(Hint, it's well documented that this "owner" had a direct hand in all four departures. He publicly slandered two of them (Paul and Dantoni) and Morey and Harden left because of the inevitable implosion. Not Stone's fault at all - but yet also not Morey's.)

PS: i think we need to have a winning season before we officially use "nice rebuild" as a debate point.

 

You do not understand context.

Morey was not given total free hand by Fertitta while Fertitta has given in total rebuild under Stone.

Now yes Philly has given Morey total free hand.

I am no fan of both GMs.

 

Morey is a douchey nerd and Stone is an ignorant lawyer.

 

He's always been on the list of overrated by fans Houston sports people to me.

Once Stone has shown a certain level of competence - he may then get 'the benefit of a doubt - or two...' - but he has not reached that level yet.

 

Stone might be even two months older than Morey or being the same age.

He is the tanking GM and will be known for that.

The future belongs to a younger GM with more vision.

I may not remember correctly. Bum Phillips was the head coach, not the GM. Or was he both? Anyhow, the rivalry with the Stealers in those days was fun.
