Dusty knows that when Brantley comes back, he can’t hide Diaz at DH and will have to play him at catcher… so he just keeps Brantley in limbo.
No he loves Brantley. Remember his comments before the season when he said when Brantley is finally healthy he's going to bat 2nd instead of Pena. Brantley will in fairly short order be either playing LF or batting DH almost every day. Diaz will be seen only twice a week on average. Yeah, the guy who projects to have 40 HRs and 100 RBIs if he played everyday is going to become a ghost.
fixed. I rather have a manager who isn't afraid to get ejected unlike ours who wants to be well-liked by players at the expense of the Astros. And C.Julks went 0-4 in a game that was over early. Let's not forgive him for letting Maldy pitch so we can tie records. Looking back years from now, no one would believe a World Series team lost by 16 in a game. Let a World Series team be a joke. #Retirement
Crane will lose millions by missing the postseason. He should already be pissed about his team's position in the standings. Does he not realize the state of our starters? Most of them are gassed with no remedy in sight. We need to fix that AND play our best lineups everyday. Dusty must be tamed.
Dusty is going to ride or die with Maldy. Dusty's in the process of driving the limo in the ditch. They are going to miss those 3-4 games that Dusty basically gave away before the game even started this year. If they miss the playoffs people will revisit this. They didn't have the cushion they normally have due to Altuve, Alvarez, Garcia,LMJ missing so many games. But Dusty managed like he had a fully healthy team this year. That's the real problem. He managed like this was last year and circumstances change, but Dusty doesn't.
"It is just one game"... it kinda matters when the difference of being in or out comes down one game...
Yes. At this point all games matter. But that's why the team can't dwell on it and think it's more than itcwas. Just 1 of 162. Just 1 of 34 left (at the time)
So that's why we also have to rest our stars because one game can fatigue them or get them hurt... and we can't risk testing a rookie catcher that is still learning on the job... and we got to push our starting pitching to get at least one more out to save the bullpen because we need them for that game tomorrow.
https://www.mlb.com/news/dusty-baker-postseason-losses-ranked 1) 2002 Giants -- Lost World Series to Angels in Game 7 Baker's first trip to the World Series was the worst of his postseason heartbreaks. The Giants, led by peak Barry Bonds, were eight outs away from a championship and ahead 5-0 in the seventh inning of Game 6 when it all came apart. Baker made the controversial decision to take out starter Russ Ortiz, who was shutting out the Angels into the seventh, after Ortiz allowed a pair of one-out singles. Reliever Felix Rodriguez came in and allowed a three-run homer to Scott Spiezio, the very first batter he faced. The Angels completed their comeback in the eighth on big hits by Darin Erstad and Troy Glaus, held on to win Game 6 and then beat San Francisco in the winner-take-all Game 7. 2) 2003 Cubs -- Lost NLCS to Marlins in Game 7 3) 2021 Astros -- Lost World Series to Braves in Game 6 4) 2012 Reds -- Lost NLDS to Giants in Game 5 5) 2017 Nationals -- Lost NLDS to Cubs in Game 5 6) 2016 Nationals -- Lost NLDS to Dodgers in Game 5 7) 2020 Astros -- Lost ALCS to Rays in Game 7 8) 1997 Giants -- Lost NLDS to Marlins in Game 3 9) 2000 Giants -- Lost NLDS to Mets in Game 4 10) 2013 Reds -- Lost NL Wild Card Game to Pirates 11) 2010 Reds -- Lost NLDS to Phillies in Game 3
Same as the others... 3x post, hate it. Dusty Baker knows its his last year here... (IDGAF who you are, thats a check that'll cash on Christmas Day) MLB "knows" its Baker's last year as the Astros GM... Dusty Baker has been literally tinkering- and quite literally doing EVERYTHING OPPOSITE of last year, running out NOT the best hitting lineups (whenever those best hitters in the lineups have been consistently healthy, respectively). All the quotes Baker's been making recently-- whether they're pushed by a media agenda or if its really just diarrhea spewing from his mouth... only leads me to think: (just as we've talked about fellas, Crane was "forced" into hiring Baker as a "****, let me clean up my personal business mess and this mess with the Astros"-- so yeah, we'll get him a ring and hold on to him as long as we can bc "optics"...) ...leads me to think: Dusty Baker is an employee of MLB, not Jim Crane's Houston Astros organization-- unless that was already decided back in the owners meetings & Jim agreed to it... we're gonna suppress this Astros surge / narrative and we'll make sure we have a mole to do just the best chance of that-- cue Dusty Baker. We were always supposed to have JV... and tbh, our record just may have been a few wins here or there better (lineup or not, shitty catchers, rising studs, forgotten heroes matters not). JV was a Crane move... every single call up / send down move has been with Baker's signature/advice on it. Players oblivious, but Manfred, the media fcks around the country, the owners / managers know exactly how the 2023 Astros season will play out. I can't believe anymore that we even have a WS defending team with the managerial FCKINGASININE blatant shhitbag moves / decisions that have been made this year... Dana Brown is probably white-knuckling the fck outta this season knowing he can't affect it. This isn't a negative post about being down on the WS this year-- friends, we weren't supposed to get back there this year. All those who aren't players know that. When was the last time you saw Jim Crane or Dana Brown or anyone in the media (non-player) actually step up and defend Dusty Baker's shake-n-bakes this season...??? #ready2haveawinningstudbaseballclub2getbehindagain Yeah-- this is the worst (Astros) team (NOT ON PAPER) I've seen at least since back, what 8-9-10 years ago+ ... its a fvcking JOKE to be a lifelong Astros fan right now.
