Actually, Bev's 13 million a year deal was roughly the same percentage of cap as Dillon Brooks' current deal is. The other points are fair.
While Gobert had a size advantage over former Rocket Kelly Olynyk, the difference in guard play was the story of the game. Canada has so many weapons; S. Gilgeous-Alexander seems unstoppable. Brooks wasn't asked to carry any scoring and seemed to enjoy clamping down on Fournier and others. With Dort, Brooks, RJ Barrett, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker rotating and digging in on D, France could hardly do anything. A true clinic. Team USA had better bring their A-game in this tournament, or they will lose big time.
That is an anomaly, France is not 30 points worse than Canada though. They should have included Bilal Coulibaly .....I mma root for the Aussies.
percentage cap is irrelevant. it's a poor cop out for reason. it was for a measly year and his other deal with the clips was 3 for $40. not some 4 year fully guaranteed $80 deal. massive difference. Bev was paid exactly what he was capable of doing. Dillon Sucks on the other hand is just massively overpaid bc a team is so desperate who isn't even a good player
But 3 for 40 was the same percentage of cap space as Dillon Brooks 4 for 80. I don't see why that's a cop out. Players contracts are structured around the percentage of cap space they take up. It's effectively the same deal but for 1 more year, and I'd rather have a 2nd team defense wing for that money than a defensive stud of a PG. Brooks can guard more positions. If you think they could have had him for less, that's a legitimate complaint. But saying his deal is worse than the one we gave Bev seems silly to me.
Bc bev wasn't considered a hindrance on the future nor is he a sorry ass brick throwing player like Dillon Sucks. It isn't silly. Bev is the better player and paid less where he was paid what he was supposed to be. Dillon Sucks is on a longer deal for a much higher amount and when Jalen Green, Sengun, Smith, Tari etc are up for their huge extensions in the next year and year after, folks that aren't already acknowledging it will be crying all day about this laughable deal that they have to use assets to dump yeah its just a silly cop out attempt to make it seem like its not a horrendous deal, when in reality it is.
What's your definition of roughly? Bev's $12.3M starting salary made up 11.3% of the $109M salary cap in 2019. Brooks' $22.6M starting salary makes up 16.6% of the $136M salary cap this season. That's a big difference. If Bev's contract were the same percentage of the cap as Brooks' his salary would have started at $18.1M.
Even if you pretend the contracts are equal, pat bev was a far superior player to what brooks is, so it’s still a bad comparison
We got an Olympic franchise defender for 20 mill a year. Stone, you magnificent b*stard, you did it again.
