https://hoopshype.com/lists/advanced-stats-nba-real-plus-minus-rapm-win-shares-analytics/ The most trusted advanced stats by a survey of nba gms is DARKO, EPM, LEBRON, and RAPTOR, all of which do not rely on box scores and account for teammates and opponents. Fvv is right around top 20 in all of them.
No one cares about fg% in the nba anymore this isn’t the 1990s, people are smarter now. They look at ts%, offensive load, assisted vs self created etc. Get that kindergarten stuff outta here
LOL - sure pal, sure..... That is what Westbrook fans say....and he continues to shoot like that, he can be another John Wall on the bench...watching better more talented players play. I mean sub 40% is pretty poor finishing......unless all he took were 3s.......which.....isn't the case. That is Rafer Alston territory and not good enough. DD
He took 9 threes a game last year, 10 threes the year before and 9 threes the year before that. It isn’t all he does but it’s the majority of his shots on offense. Fvv couldn’t be further from Westbrook or Wall, do you even watch basketball?
I'm already over the VanVleet era. He's here for 2 years and that's it. It will be Amen time after that. Not hyped at all about him since I know he's a short timer. This team is long haul built around Jabari, Amen and Green. Maybe Sengun, Whitmore and Eason. Everyone else will be gone in 3 years.
Amen is not ready to start next year, and when he is ready in a year or two he will be a great fit playing next to Vanvleet who is a great off ball player.
Right, he will be ready year 3. VanVleets contract will not be exercised year 3 when Amen is ready to take the reigns and cost a fraction of the price.
The Raptors analysis is not really relevant. We have two guys next season (Sengun and Green) who are likely to be better iso scorers than anyone on the Raptors last season. ISO scoring means you attract double teams and make defenses collapse a bit, which opens up easier shots for the roles players. The Raptors were bad because they were poorly built and that affected everyone on their roster. They needed at least one guy who you had to foul or double team often and they didn't have that guy. That would have changed everything for them. That would have made them like the Miami Heat, the team Masai hilariously thinks they should have been as good as. You hear Raptors fans talking about selfishness of FVV and that they should have shared the ball with the young players. Other than Barnes, the young players sucked and they will continue to suck. It's absurd to tell the HC: you don't have a primary scorer, so now take shots away from your secondary scorers and give them to lesser young scorers. That's a dumb strategy. Those young guys needed more space and open shots as well. FVV is a role player and he was thrust into an ISO creator role out of absolute necessity last season. Siakam is decent but not great at creating in ISO. Everyone else sucked at it (OG, GTJ, Barnes, FVV). That's not what FVV should have been doing last season, and it's not what he's going to be doing next season. I'm sure FVV is not suddenly going to lose his taste for taking shots we don't think he can make, but he will certainly do it less often and on less tired legs. On the Raptors, the main ISO scoring responsibilities were on Siakam, FVV and to some extent Barnes and GTJ. On the Rockets it's clearly going to be Green and Sengun followed by FVV or Jabari. He's going to LEAD the offense a lot of course (by setting up the offense), but he's not going to routinely create shots at the start of the possession when the opponent is clamping down. He's the right guy for the job we have. It would have been a mistake to turn Green/Sengun into role players which is what a lot of people thought was the solution. The Rockets went out and got an adult who's great at asst/to ratio and desperately needs to reduce his own ISO possessions. I can't understand why people think FVV is going to show up and successfully ignore Ime Udoka. Nick Nurse would have made Green and Sengun the primary scorers too. They're not idiots. Nurse was just working with what he had.
Maybe he should have made more of them, I mean if he was a good shooter he would have.....right? You are right, all that matters is wins and losses Jordannn - so let's hope FVV can teach our young guys how to win, last year he led Toronto to a stunning .500 record...what a ****ing winner. DD
Based off the only stat that matters KPJ was tied for 2nd worst starting PG in the NBA last year. FVV clear upgrade confirmed.
Well, this is true, too bad we don't get to compare apples to apples and have Silas coach this year. DD
I disagree. i dont mind FVV being here, but i think amen would be starting in a month without FVV on the roster. He has superstar written all over him
That would be great if it’s true, and if it is then he will be starting next to Fvv in a month anyways.
