I can't believe you still havnt understood republican voters yet my friend. Sigh you've learned nothing.

Trump could be sitting in prison banging a male and gop voters will walk over nails to vote for him. Folks don't understand the MAGA cult @Salvy

Trump could **** their wives and they'd high five him. It's a cult @bigtexxx @J.R. and always has been. Their low iq followers can't think for themselves

The horse race polltics addicts are fuelign wall to wall cable news /live blog/media analytis/data journo debate coverage.

This debate matters as much as the 2020 debates and the 2016 debates -> zero.

It's funny how folks haven't accepted its going be biden vs trump and was always going be that way. The minute trump announced biden had to announce. It was so predictable regardless of who wanted it.

Why would biden not run and give the opportunity to trump to erase his entire legacy? You think Biden is going trust kamala or Gretchen to save his legacy? Ridiculous

I wonder if the GOP will ever get back to the old GOP. When Trump is gone will someone pick up the MAGA mantle and succeed or will MGA end up being rejected all together?

While I agree with what you're saying on the surface, there are some folks like me who are trying to get a feel for these candidates to see if I would pick one over Biden, I like what Biden has done and I voted for him, but I am nervous about his age and more importantly his welfare. I cannot get behind anyone who is simply a different version of trump, I would vote for Biden every day and twice on Sunday if he is up against trump. But I am open minded and the Dems are not giving me any choices just yet, so I have to look to the other side. I`ve been most impressed with Christi and Haley had me look at her differently after last night, as I mentioned in a different thread, the 6 weeks ban on abortion is a nonstarter for me but 15 weeks is a point that we can have a discussion, she knows how bad Putin is so I will keep an eye on her. We have an entire year of this so I am sure I will go back and forth between now and then but as of now I am a hard no on trump, desantis and vivek..........Asa, and the others (not sure who the dude was with the cast on) should drop out, why are you spending money on this?

If you're a true undecided voter, why would you start making your "choice" now, 15 months from the election, by listening to 10 people on a stage trying to appeal to republcian crazies - the fact is most of these people are polling in the single digits and will be afterthoughts, so all of your research will have been a waste.

Also if i recall correctly there's approximately 52 primary debates on the schedule, so lots more opportunities for research!

I disagree. I think with the not zero chance that trumpybear is convicted before the end of primary season, there needs to be a clear frontrunner to replace him. I think it's too early for debates but there should be options and those people need to separate themselves.

Even if we take this as true - how much did debate performances affect the nominating contests in 2020? 2016? 2012? I'm sure the political junkies reemmber all of the great moments (mostly just meme worthy gaffes or sick burns) - but it's very easy (and probably more convincing) to tell alternative stories in which they literally don't matter at all.

...even if trump is convicted he's still the nominee for the republican party. There's nothing that's going happen from now to election which will disqualify trump

I realize a conviction doesn't technically disqualify him...but I'd be willing to bet a plea deal to keep him out of prison would include that he drops out of this race and never runs for office again.

Smh. With all due respect there's not a chance in living hell the attorney General would offer that to trump. Trump would turn around and use that as evidence as election interference. At some point Americans will wake up to the idea that trump vs biden is all but guaranteed.

If anyone thinks otherwise please DM me and we can wager any amount you want at any odds you want. I'll literally give you any odds

I never said that wasn't the likely outcome. He still has to actually get to trial and actually get convicted. These things are by no means guaranteed to happen.

Appeals process alone will take a few years and he'll be out on bond while his appeals will be pending..... no judge in America will reprimand him to prison while on appeal.

I know which way I would vote on the Dem side, Biden of course but I would like to see some others get in the race. I know a little about the gop side so I think its a good opportunity to see them pitted against each other. The one thing I personally will not vote for is anyone like trump (or trump) and I think this is a good starting point as we all know things will change over the next year so it's a good opportunity to dip my toes in the water and get a feel for them. I am 99.9% certain trump will win the nominee but how the court schedule works out could change things for him so you never know. I am fairly certain if its biden v trump 2.0 biden will take it.............if its not trump I am a bit worried and I would prefer not to move to Canada, so one or two of these candidates would not make me not move as fast  Again, what is certain now may not be certain 6 months from now and I am just trying to be as informed as possible.

The 2016 primary debates gave Trump a lot of attention.

Like it or not, this is our stand-in for real voter participation.

I guess I should be used to it but the shamelessness of the “LOCK HER UP!” Party crying about the politicization of prosecutions even as they push for prosecuting the Biden’s and Trump is selling merch with his mug shot is really annoying.

    The three problems facing America:
    1. An ex-president that is hell-bent on destroying the country, our democratic election and judicial systems
    2. Made worse by other republican politicians and right-wing media that are fanning the flames started by the ex-president, up to an including calling out for violence (see below)
    3. Perhaps the biggest problem, republicans are not only allowing this, but actively supporting it.

How the hell would a civil war work in the Information Age anyways? You can’t just trick half the country into fighting for a bullshit reason. Even in texas 45 or so % of us hate trump.
