Based on what? jokic and embiid were both considerably better free throw shooters, which is the best projection for 3 pt development. Other then just wanting it to happen, there's no actual basis for it.

He shot 33% for the season and over 43% from January to the end of the season. Yes it was on low volume but keep in mind the idiot coach told him not to shoot them. There is absolutely zero reason to believe he will not be a decent 3 point shooter going forward.

Alp's assistant coach at the national team is Memo "the moneyman" Okur, former NBA champ and all-star. He was a real stretch-5, 6"11 and shot 37.5% behind the arc. What Hakeem is for footwork, Memo is 3pt shooting for bigs. I do not know how much Ataman let Alp to practice but they can continue to work together as Memo lives in California.

Lots of people talk about Alp's defensive liabilities and we can see Memo's at the embedded video. What he lacked as a rookie against Shaq, he covered with mid-range shots.

Sengun has better BBIQ than Memo, more hustling player and will have a better career. They have similar heights and both have unorthodox running style. Unlike Hedo, Mehmet Okur is a decent guy and can be a perfect teacher/role model for Alp.

Jokic and Embiid aren’t just franchise players, they are both MVPs, so anything short of that and Sengun is a failure? Is that where the goal post has moved to?

For being a franchise player ya, if he's the next sabonis or bam, he's not a franchise player or even close.

Is that a problem if he’s “just” another perennial all star?

I would have zero interest in sabonis for example, i would not want to build around someone like him. If you’re gonna have a center who sucks on defense, he’s gotta be incredible on offense, and that includes 3s

Sengun shot 81% FT in the Turkish league at age 18.

At a year older than Sengun was that year, Embiid shot 68 % FT in college.

Sengun needs to work on it, but there is no reason he can't get back to 80%.

I guess Embiid got to practice free throws a lot while he was out for two years with a serious foot injury.

That’s rich coming from a fan of a team with the worst record in the league for the last three years having zero interest in players who lead their team to top 3 in the conference and playoffs for the first time in two decades. We would be lucky if any of the players on the team could accomplish that. And fwiw I think Sengun is trending to be better than Sabonis is all aspects.

their top 3 was a result of having by far the best injury luck in the league, if they had regular injury luck they're nowhere near top 3, come on man. If sabonis was a free agent, would you want to sign him to a 5 year supermax? I sure wouldn't

The only people worth a 5 year super max are the superstars of the league, so are we saying Sengun has to be one of those to be a part of the team? Otherwise that question isn’t relevant.

Why in the world do you have to build everything around him? You just need a rim protector at the pf spot. That’s one complimentary piece.

Are you saying that you have to be MVP level player to be a franchise player?

There are only 9 active players who have won an MVP. Only 3 of them are still in their prime. So according to your definition, there are just a handful of franchise players in the whole league at any given time that is worth being built around.

So what do you propose to do? Keep tanking until you find the rare "franchise player" to build around?

Jjj, Myles Turner, Mobley, Prizingis, Anthony Davis, Chet, Wemby, Johnathan Isaac

We are talking about a perfect roster construction to compliment Sengun, which I’m not sure is necessary. Sabonis already proved that you can be a top 3 team without this and he is a much worse rim protector himself than Sengun.

But you know what kind of player really barely exist? guys like Sengun. There’s only three of them and the ceiling is all time great and the floor is perennial allstar. Why the hell wouldn’t you want one of those?

Jabari may end up being a pretty good rim protector at the 4. Already averaged nearly a block a game as a teenage rookie. JJJ went from 1.4 blocks a game as a rookie to 3 blocks a game as 23-year-old, so it wouldn't be unprecedented for Bari to average around 2 per game in his prime.

Sengun is also not that bad of a shotblocker, and he appears to have improved in that area this offseason going by how he looked in the Olympic qualifiers.

As a combined frontcourt Sengun + Smith may end up being above average at shotblocking.

Edit: I also think Tari and Amen are going to provide around a block per game each if/when given starter's minutes. I don't think our current core is particularly hurting for rim protection as an overall unit.

Good for him to go to Alacati. Better than Giresun beaches.
