I guarantee that was a Click decision (LMJ). You are posting BS that is dated. Dusty doesn't let pitchers go over 110 pitches, except for a Verlander start. Maybe he learned his lesson. Maybe there is a an organizational mandate on how many pitches are thrown by each pitcher.
Dusty still has the habit of trying to squeeze just one more out of the starting pitcher to save the bullpen when he just digs himself a hole and needs to use the bullpen more anyways. "Third time through the order penalty" is significant for Brown (.311 BA in 3rd PA where it is sub .260 before then), Bielak, JP France, Framber, and Blanco (Javier is the exception as he gets better as the game goes on...)
Dusty has been handed the keys to a championship caliber team, with top-level talent, top-level playoff experience, strong veterans, some young talent... and then the addition of Justin Verlander at the deadline. And we are 1 game away from MISSING THE PLAYOFFS. Totally inexcusable, any way you look at it. He got cute with lineups and playing time, he remained stubborn, and he played favorites... and objectively, his actions cost us 4-5 games... which is the difference in leading the division and sitting on the bubble. Very poor managerial performance.
So true!! HUGE difference being the #2 seed (if we were the Division winner) and playing the winner of MIN/TOR as opposed and to TEX/TB play #1 BAL in the ALDS. Anything can happen in a 3 game WC series. Plus having the bye you're guaranteed of having your SP lined up in the ALDS. All these pathetic lineups has definitely cost us a minimum of "4-5 gms".
I'm just glad he won't be here next season and we dont have to read or hear this type of asinine quotes...pending a WS win.
Dusty: Diaz will thank me, the city will thank me, the organization will thank me and Martin thanks me every day for starting him when he’d be on the bench anywhere else. Me! Me! Me! I’m the smartest guy in the room! Dusty once again showing his age. Young QBs are coming in and starting right away. (and if they aren’t, not much later than the halfway point of the season)
I think it's time too. Club will take heat for it but Dusty is at the point where his decisions are about him and not the team.
We got lucky last season we fielded a team too loaded for Dusty to f**k it up. Now that a lot of things have gone wrong and we don't have the breathing room, we're paying the Dusty penalty and it could cost us a lot
I know the chances of firing Dusty in the middle of the season were slim to none but we are witnessing how him continuing to be the manager is slowly killing the team. The team looks like they are opening up a can of quit in today's game.
So does Dusty decide if and when Brantley comes back and not Dana? It sure seems like it based off the Dusty comments.
