Filmmaker Zack Snyder has premiered the first trailer for his two-part Netflix epic space opera “Rebel Moon” following the clip making its global debut live on Gamescom. The story begins around a colony on the agricultural moon of Veldt on the galaxy’s edge. The peaceful is threatened by the armies of the tyrannical regent Belisarius (Ed Skrein) and the ferocious and all-powerful Imperium, which oversees the other planets from its home base of Mother World. When Imperium forces expand out to encompass Veldt’s system, they target the moon as a potentially rich source of food and army recruits. But the natives, unhappy their existence is being threatened, turn to a newcomer named Kora (Sofia Boutella) for help. The isolated young woman, who has her own history with the Imperium, sets out in search of warriors from other planets to fight the tyrannical armies. But keeping her band of rebels together may be harder than she expected. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Stz Nair, Bae Doona, Michiel Huisman, Jena Malone, Cary Elwes, Ray Fisher, Corey Stoll, Alfonso Herrera, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Kingston Foster, Ingvar Sigurdsson, Fra Fee and the voice of Anthony Hopkins. Snyder co-wrote the film with “300” co-writer Kurt Johnstad, and “Army of the Dead” co-writer Shay Hatten. “Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire” is expected to have a limited theatrical run ahead of its streaming debut on December 22nd. “Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver” will release April 19th 2024. In addition, Snyder confirms they are creating a video game based on the franchise with a story set after the two movies. https://www.darkhorizons.com/first-trailer-zack-snyders-rebel-moon
Looks...uh...big. Lots going on. I'll definitely check it out. It has Djimon Hounsou in it. If any movie is worth its weight in beans, it'll have Hounsou in it. That guy is in everything big these days.
If I remember correctly, this script is based of a pitch he made for a Star Wars movie that was ultimately rejected. Trailer looks cool and interesting enough.....
Looks like it has amazing visuals and action, but I have no clue what it's about. Since it's a Zack Snyder flick, that's probably going to be my review after I see it, too.
Expecting lots of grityy slo-mo action shots taking place durring an apparent hurricane. Also a whole lot of unsaturated color so that you wonder if you are going colorblind halfway through the film.
I feel this comment. I'll probably check it out because it's Netflix and won't cost me anything extra to see it...but I'm not sure I'd pay movie theater prices. Snyder can do the visuals but I don't have a lot of confidence that he'll be able to competently world build and tell a good story. But maybe he proves me wrong.
Looks like it could be great, but it also looks like it could be a confused cluster**** with an obscene amount of slow motion.
I really like the Snyder cut of Justice League. I think it’s probably the best DC movie and is certainty the most bad-ass depiction of Wonder Woman. I’m skeptical about the female lead in Rebel Moon, but I’ll watch it.
He's never made a good move don't @ me. Respect him for Watchmen and Superman. But they were not good.
I've mostly disagreed with critics when it comes to Snyder movies so I'll still give it a watch. Some of his movies are not that great (Sucker Punch comes to mind), but generally speaking he delivers more than he misses. Plus you know Disney is handing money out to the paid critics for Zach daring to defy them.
