I don’t think it was nonsense. People need to understand that this is a worldwide problem. The only way the problem gets solved is by people and nations working together. Republicans and Democrats have been using immigration as a political football for too long. A giant wall on the border isn’t a long term solution, but we can’t accommodate everyone from every corner of the world that wants to come the United States. So, I hope that politicians like AOC and others try to figure out a solution. It won’t be easy, but something needs to be done. We need more politicians that actually want to come to some solution rather than just play politics.

Well first part of illegal immigration is to make it illegal

Illegal immigration is illegal. We do not have an open border policy that some people like to go on about. That’s just politics. We need to put politics aside and try to address a very difficult issue.

The GOP rants and raves about illegal immigration, but they truly don't want to solve it. I could solve it in less than a year.

I am not advocating for this, but here is a solution.

Fine the living hell out of employers. Fine them out of business if they employ people who are not allowed to work legally. If illegal immigrants cannot find work they won't come here. However, the GOP won't do this. They talk out both sides of their mouth.

You mean stopping people from crossing the border like it’s a Walgreens in San Francisco?

Good job, Biden. Let's use that money for something worthwhile. Very resourceful and smart.

The illegal immigrants are willing to work hard. I don't know how many houses would get built or restaurants would work without them. I would rather have them then lazy Americans complaining about they're taking our jobs.

These people are utter losers. Go to any home depot at 9am and you'll see these same white guys with Trump flags picking them up for cheap for labor. Go to 610 and shepherd and you'll see it all day. This nation survives on cheap labor aka capitalism.

Keep the hard working Mexicans and deport right wingers @AroundTheWorld

It's that southern border with Nebraska. It's incredibly open so you get these Cornhuskers illegally crossing over. You see it at every street corner in Sioux Falls. Some guy with Go Huskers shirt or hat working a job that he took from a hardworking South Dakotan!

It's a win win for the republicans. Sponsor them with shitty minimum wage jobs, get rich off them, then demonize them and win elections. Meanwhile, affordability, healthcare, and pensions are slowly leaving this world but we're on top culture wars, aliens, and ethnicities.

Sexual predators are a sick and disturbing bunch of criminals. Too bad we can't just purge them all from society. I don't believe those animals can change. Their minds are messed up.

This, and all other stories are horrific, but Texans need to be honest when it comes to murders and rapes of children. 80% of murdered kids under 13 are killed by a parent and only 10% of strangers sexually assault children. There will always be exceptions, because there are so many sick predators, and when there are, I'm sure illegal immigrants will highlight the headlines here. The truth is that those closest to these children are the predators and killers, more often than not.

White House reaches tentative deal with N.Y. to put shelter at Brooklyn airfield

    https://www.nydailynews.com/news/po...0230821-tgx53tcpuvghlfxxupwjr7rdvi-story.html

    excerpt:

The Biden administration has tentatively offered a long-sought lease agreement that would allow New York to put a state-funded migrant shelter at an airfield in southeast Brooklyn, Gov. Hochul said Monday.

The site, Floyd Bennett Field in Jamaica Bay, could host more than 2,000 asylum seekers, Hochul said, a precious addition for the city as it strains to house tens of thousands of newly arrived migrants.

Hochul said the state had been negotiating the contract with the White House for months, culminating in talks that ran until 11 p.m. on Sunday night. The state was reviewing the contract Monday morning, the governor said.

Hochul, under pressure to help the city handle the migrant crisis, had recently pointed to her work to secure the airfield, which is property of the U.S. Interior Department.

“The answer one month ago was no,” Hochul said of the federal government’s stance on the lease. “This is a significant development by the administration in Washington to acknowledge that we need more help here.”

It was not immediately clear how much the lease would cost, or when the shelter might be operational.

Many of the migrants are from Venezuela and Cuba where we have in place severe illegal international blockades designed to destroy their economies which work to the extent of virtually forcing migration.
Other countries such as Haiti, Honduras and Guatemala we have supported coups whenever they folks who do not meet the approval of their or our oligarchs.
