Will Smith is a complete mess right now. ERA north of 5 in the last several weeks. Trying Chapman as closer ends up as a failure. The worst thing you can have is ill defined roles across the bullpen. This is where the Rangers reside right now.
That was one of the worst managed games I’ve ever seen. Both managers in love with the intentional walk, for no good reason. Bochy walking the tying run intentionally might be the dumbest thing I’ve seen though.
Rangers 32-33 in their last 65. They are trending to be completely out of the playoffs. Funny the starting pitching is as good as its been all year and they can't buy a victory.
Even Dusty isn't dumb enough to intentionally walk the batter representing the tying run in order to bring the winning run to the plate.
Looking ahead, with JV going against Houck, tomorrow is a game you have to win. Chicago is throwing Clevinger tomorrow, so the White Sox should have a chance. Texas going against Gallen. All in all there is a realistic shot at three good outcomes tomorrow for the Astros. Just win baby.
