Beltran started 22 of the last 37 and 13 of the last 15 games in 2017 and started 5 games in the postseason, he didn't exactly just go away.

Yes, he needs to be a coach. His playing days are over.

Fans taking their own thoughts and feelings and assuming that "well, the players must think just like me too!" is annoying, for lack of a better word.

At some point you have the take the keys away. It hurts, but when someone is no longer capable of driving it’s the right thing to do.

By no means to the Astros have a cupcake schedule going forward, but they face the Rangers and Mariners three times each, SO, their destiny is within their control.

Maldonado was still a very good catcher back then. Hit a little better too.

Moldy can play too after securing the division.

    Oh wait... it's too late

So actual question. What benefit does Maldy provide on the field that he cannot do from the clubhouse? It just seems like all the game planning can be done as a group effort and even the in game adjustments can be done in the dug out between the catchers.

Why are we talking more about Maldy hitting than Peña falling off a cliff??

They were chasing the Dodgers and trying to not get caught by the Indians for home field. Neither worked, but I'm happy how that season ended.

    And seriously..."Moldy"?

Because there is an obvious much better player backing up Maldy. Not so obvious at SS that you get better production if Dubon took over.

Yeah, that was bad. Wish we had Urquidy available today instead of using him on Friday when the bullpen had a day off the day before.

Do y'all think Moldy threatened Diaz in the team meeting, told him to "quit showing off?"

Possibly the single dumbest in-game move Dusty has made all season.

Indians were the #1 seed in 2017 in the AL. 22 games in a row or something?!?

They respect Dusty Baker as a man. Not all managers are respected. As far as him not inspiring them right now - it’s the end of August, he isn’t going to be fired this late in the season.
