It's exactly because Euro teams play team ball, especially in these tournaments that even though the individual talent might not be as good, it's more difficult to dominate in the tournaments than in the G-league. Any fringe NBA player can dominate in the G-league because nobody there plays serious individual defense, let alone team defense. Our own legends Nix and TyTy played like generational talents in the G-league.
Hence y I was quite high on garuba and felt we gave up on him too early. Man knew his role on the national team and played it well. Under a sht coach aka silas and an incompetent pg, garuba didn't look so good. U need those type of system players on your bench
That is also why lower Euro teams would not beat GLeague teams as easily because the Offense would not be that great as Sweden did not shoot that well and were outclassed by Turkey and their NBA caliber players without Turkey even turning it on.
I don't disagree with you there. Just wanted to point out that individual dominance on offense is harder in FIBA tournies than in G-league.
There is no doubt about it, we have our franchise player. He will be in the MVP hunt within a few years. A few people on this forum will have to either learn to love him or be miserable.
Game day for Alp against Croatia. The question is whether Alp is going to play as PF where he was mainly used during the tournament or to be moved to C position to decrease the efficiency of Ivica Zubac? Zubac will be too strong for Sertac/Yurt7/Kabaca and too experienced for Osmani. It seems that Alp is the obvious choice. Yurt7 was too sentimental last year for not starting, considering himself an NBA Great and left the team o join Heat. After a grand 99 minutes/season and not to be offered an extension he wanted to join the national team.(What else he would do to get recognition?).He should not be invited again but there are lots of weak management around nowadays (see KPJ/soup throwing and CWood-Silas/Stone). Won't surprise to see Alp at 5 and Sertac or Osmani at 4. Yurt7 might come from the bench to back-up Alp for 10 minutes. That much playing time still too many for a quitter but what you expect if Hedo is the head of basketball in Turkey.
not looking good for Turkey and alperen. two fouls by alperen in 5 minutes. turkey not getting organized on offense, yurtseven taking a 3 is definitely a bad sign.
