Peña really didn’t have a choice there. With runners on, you can’t solo shot. DP was his only course of action

Maldy with a runner in scoring position. This is ridiculous

If pitchers can't figure out how Maldaneverdo hurts their chances at winning, then they are buffoons. Another man in scoring position for Maldonado to do squat.

My simple observation: he's made a conscious effort to let the ball travel to help him not go after the outside slider...and it's worked in that regard, it's just messed up everything else. He's pull happy when he should be hitting the ball hard from CF to RF

Right now Dubon should play SS and Diaz catcher.

I love how Peña rolls over on EVERYTHING. Once Tucker and Brantley get back they need to find a place on the bench for Pena too.

Is there a RISP minus Maldy stat out there?

Can you do anything? Like what happened to that guy that would lean in to a pitch to get on base. anything.

It’s beyond stupid at this point. Maldy effectiveness is a myth. He gets to catch the best of the rotation and outside of one start by framber they’ve all seem to have regressed this season. Especially the past 2 months. Diaz has done more with the rotation of rookies and France/Brown seem to pitch better with Diaz. If it’s because Maldy will throw a fit then DFA. He’s hurting this team and someone needs to step in or they’re going to be playing a 3 game WC series on the road or miss the playoffs.

Mark Bailey, Robbie Wine, John Mizerock

I would take any of those over Maldy now

    He's 11-73 with 8 BBs and 3 GIDP

Astros are 272 for 1001 with 138 BBs and 29 GIDP overall.

I'll let you do the math.
