[WSJ] ‘If Elder Were a Democrat’ Without double standards, would the U.S. media have any standards?

Prop 13 from 1978? The one about property taxes and the rules for raising taxes? You realize California was politically much more conservative then, right? California voted for Gerald Ford in 1976 and Reagan in 1980. Although there was a Democratic governor in 1978, it was following a Republican governor and followed by two other Republican governors. I'm talking about California politics now, 45 years later.

 

45 yrs later, Calif voters has become more liberal; But not enough to get Prop 13 off the books, even w political control in Sacto

the liberal Calif voters got the death penalty off the books, but not Prop 13

 

Because it was a Constitutional amendment, it is more difficult to get rid of. It would require a new ballot initiative either placed on the ballot through the signature process or by 2/3 majority of both houses.
