He is dominating as usual. It looks like today he woke up and decided to be a sharpshooter lol. Jokes aside, I love that he has all the freedom in the national team. Coach definitely told him to shoot more. He don’t hesitate at all, just pulls the trigger. That buzzer beater was amazing as well
I don't think they play much through him though. He should be used more as a playmaker than that coach does, in my opinion.
He didn't play much in the second quarter. He came to the sideline to be subbed in at about 6 minute mark but the game didn't stop for some time and he couldn't get it. And then he didn't have much of a rhythm. Sweden switches the guard to Alperen. Turkey preferred to attack the big with the guard, rather than using Alperen on the swedish guard. That worked fine for Turkey, but if they used Alperen he could easily have 20-25 pts in the first half.
He's a prodigy passing the ball for sure, but it's nice to see him being more aggressive scoring the ball. Will open things up for sure. I do wonder who got in his ear and told him to take his... Udoka maybe??? Enquiring Minds....
I think we should have a chance to see Sengun shine against Saric. That’s an obvious mismatch for Sengun down low. If Sengun closes out well, (and doesn’t give up uncontested 3s) Turkey should be able to bottle up Saric off the dribble. Y might play Zubac to a standstill.
All of these games are still exhibition matches right? Is Turkey in the actual tournament? I don't see any Turkey games listed on nba.com's FIBA schedule. https://www.nba.com/news/fiba-basketball-world-cup-2023-schedule
NBA 3pt line is farther back. Though it still looks like Alpi's shot would have been behind the NBA 3pt line too.
These olympics qualifiers. Olympics and World cup are two different tournaments. Neither are exhibition games but the competition so far was not in the same league as Turkey. Croatia is the first opponent in the same stratosphere with Turkey. Game is on Sunday.
Yeah, goes to show you those people who said he was a C and nothing else were off base (which I would've thought was obvious tbh.) It's why it would've totally worked if we had lucked out in the Wembystakes because Sengun would be the PF on defense and the C on offense and vice versa. I think he'll do great either way, but from the clips I've seen of these international games he does look good playing next to a traditional rim blocker in the middle with him more mobile working around them.
