USA beat Slovenia 92-62, but Slovenia was missing Doncic and 2 or 3 other players, so I don't think this was a really good measure of how good they are. Spain is next, and assuming they're playing everyone, should be a better test (unless they sandbag it... lol). USA vs. Spain is Sunday @ 2:30pm (Central).
So am I thinking Aussie and Canada have two teams that can hang at least with the US. France is a dark one.
The tone of the officiating has changed starkly in the second half. I was remarking in the first half about how I liked the physicality and pace. Spain plays with a lot of good looking east west passing and wears out the defense.
Ayton is probably going to play big in FIBA ball without having to defer to Booker, Beal, Durant. No Caribbean accent tho.
Our man Jock just tipped off his first game of the summer for Australia after rolling an ankle a few weeks ago
He couldn't put much weight on it heading to the locker room, really didnt look great. He was playing like someone who had missed a lot of time too so he needs the minutes. Australia might have to lean hard into small ball if Jock can't get that ankle right. Only 8 days until the first game and a 12 hour flight between Melbourne and Tokyo. Hope the Boomers have a good physio!
He got the bad ankle sprain against South Sudan, so this video was probably before that injury. Before the really bad left ankle sprain, he had sprained his right ankle and missed their first couple of games, I think. I can’t imagine he’s going to play anytime soon after what I saw.
yup, the vid post was supposed to be a reply for the tip off post / the earlier one.... then the really bad one happened, and got mixed up... might take time before he plays....a big downer to a supposedly exciting incoming season for us all
