I dunno. I think Brantley mucks things up further in the outfield and at DH. I want Chas to play everyday. I want Diaz to play everyday. Brantley is a huge question mark.

What we need is Dusty to put the best lineup out there to win.

Maldonado in the lineup = begging for an L

Diaz @ DH is a waste and an excuse to play #125
    OPS
    DH - .607
    Catcher - 1.012
    1B (3 games) - 1.152

Team's record is barely above .500 with #125

Arlington barely loses any games, so the division ship might already be sailed.

7 OR 8 years for 300M would be a subtantial overpay. He has 2 years of arbitration left. He will probably make somewhere between 25 and 30M total for those 2 years- so a 7 year 300M deal would be the equivalent to him signing a 5 year/270M FA contract. Even at 6 years/270M that's waaaaaay too much, especially guaranteeing Tucker that money up front.
Fangraphs had a scenario where the number should be 9/245. I don't think that's enough but if he would take it I'd be happy to give it to him.
I'd personally be fine with 10/300. He might not be good in years 8, 9 or 10 but I feel like he should be a good bet to put up 30+ War over the remainder of his career. 8/210 would make sense- that would be the equivalent of 6/180 in FA and he's extending at a discount b/c you are guaranteeing him the money now and he doesn't have to wait until later. That should be worth roughly a 25% discount. Which would basically be saying that he could get 10/280 in the open market. He could probably do better than that but money in the hand is better than money you hope you get tomorrow.

See your point. I would assume he will be used as a DH and pinch hitter.

The Astro's margin for error is very small. The best possible lineup should hit the field every game.

Any final lineup yet? Still arguing about if Maldy should have a bday off or not between Dusty and office?

Got to rest Diaz after that exhausting Homerun he hit yesterday.

Verlander is hurting his own 300-win chances

Maldy and Dubon, the Verlander special. It's f**king gross, we're worse offensively and defensively at both positions. Diaz hilariously sitting his 3rd game out of 4.

At least Altuve is good to go.

I never in my wildest dreams thought I could hate a manager who just won a WS, but here we are. I won't miss his sorry ass.

Silly? The correct word is stupid. Doobie just face planted into the cushioned wall in CF the other day on a play he should have made.

the bottom 4 hitters with the possible exception of Pena (who seems to be getting it together) are black holes. They are going to struggle against most teams not in Oakland or KC.

Verlander is nearly even money tonight against a pitcher not named Alcantara. Opened at -124. Vegas must've adjusted the line 20 points with no Diaz.
