He is no Vick nor shifty like a Mahomes but in a straight line he can get from point A to point B (line) in the same time as Mahomes. And when this offense is clicking there will be linear open space on the bootleg/ rollouts to take 7-15 yards. Just got to know when to take off. Pitre would have have destroyed him on this other attempt he had.

I think we'll see more bootlegs/rollouts as he gets more comfortable. The point is, he's not a statute, as some originally thought

Rollouts don’t make him an athlete. Schaub ran bootlegs great.
Stroud is a young Matt Ryan, that’s his upside. Which is really not bad if he can get to that level, still a big if

How come some wear the lego helmets and others the regular helmets? It's optional?

Edit: Disregard this post. Google fail on my part :D CJ didn't run the 40. The article I found had bad info. That seemed AWFUL fast not to be talked about.

I've had trouble getting my head around this comparison if we're talking about mobility only. Ryan had some elusiveness but I never thought of him as quick or fast.

I just checked their 40yd times at the combine. Ryan was 4.89 and Stroud was 4.48. 4.48 is skill position fast so I kept digging.

The avg 40 time for WRs, CBs and RBs is 4.48-4.49. QB is 4.81.

Obviously that's straight line speed and doesn't account for wiggle or quickness but Stroud has more than a few steps on Ryan in the speed department. He's much faster than I thought.

    Yeah, Stroud definitely didn’t run a 4.4/4.5.
It was reported he was a high 4.7-low 4-8 guy.

Which is about average for QBs, straight line he’s serviceable. But he has minimal burst, wiggle and elusiveness.

Based on eye test I would say CJ is 4.6-4.7 range. Which would put him right in the middle of qbs nowadays. Average mobility for a qb which is just fine and definitely more than Matt Ryan no matter how much cmoak tries to force the comparison. The only difference is that Matt Ryan used to be the average but would now be considered a statue by nfl standards.

Your eye test is extremely wrong. Not even close. He’s at very best a low 4.7 on a good tail wind day.
The other thing is most of you wouldn’t know what a 4.6 actually is, Burrow is far more athletic and runs a 4.8. Same as Mahomes.
Matt Ryan was a functional pocket QB, same as Stroud.

Very first play is what Stroud is capable of, and the bootlegs. Average athlete for QB
