Whether he walked away or not he would have been prosecuted. He committed numerous felonies, and simply not running for President has nothing to do with breaking the law. Nobody should get a free pass for willfully breaking laws left and right, and especially felony acts. If that happens in this country, then the scales of justice will be tipped to an extreme, and Presidents and ex Presidents will have nothing stopping them from ever being held accountable for the law, and our leaders could become as corrupt as the worst in the world.

He could have been a cooperating un-indicted co-conspirator. But yes there’s no way that he could have avoided prosecution in a sense.

My point is that the extent that he’d have to cooperate and atone in a sense is far beyond what Trump is capable of. In theory is different than reality. Hell in theory he could have publicly cried on camera apologizing to the public, dedicated his life and fortune to working in homeless shelters, and maybe Biden would pardon him in exchange for never seeking office again. That’s just not reality though. In order to stop the wheels of Justice there’s more to do than just simply not run for president.

SpaceGhosts entire question was designed to prove a point that he’s only being pursued because he’s running for president when in reality it’s the opposite.

Only brainwashed MAGAS believe that crap. They started investigating him after the insurrection, but it took time to gather the evidence of what led to the coup, and what happened that day. It took a long time to even identify all those insurrectionists, and get their statements. It took a long time to actually get Republicans to testify under oath, or give statements. Look at how many Trump loyalists plead the 5th.

Look how long it took them to even get Trump to give them back any classified documents after they got a tip. They asked him more than once, and he still didn't turn them all over.

That whole mess in Georgia took a long time to gather facts as well, and gather witnesses and testimonies from Trump's people, the poll workers they slandered with their malicious lies, and the election officials who helped to try and steal the vote. Getting those involved to turn on the top dog and give a statement takes a lot of time. It's a waste of time to just indict without enough evidence to arrest the culprit and risk them walking because of lack of evidence.

Trump knows all that. He brainwashed his cult over mail in voter fraud, election fraud, voting machine fraud, and poll workers fraud to incite them and get them to believe the election was stolen. That's why he started spreading propaganda and BS about Biden's DOJ, Kangaroo Court, the Crooked DOJ and FBI, Witch Hunt, Election Interference, the prosecutors and judges, and so on. It worked on his cult before, so he is doing it again. The dumbasses continue to believe, and donate for what they believe is injustice in America by a communist, Marxist, regime that must be stopped. They got that idea from Trump and his loyalists.

I’m also going to add that whether he was running or not he was holding classified and other sensitive material. Since he wasn’t cooperating and even deceiving the DOJ and national records there would still be legal
Action take to get those back.

I never had a serious problem with what Trump did. The POTUS is only so powerful. I do not condone his behavior however I never once thought Trump would turn us into some 3rd world dictatorship or get us into a global nuclear war. Most of the nonsense around Trump was largely hyperbole.

The problem I have with Trump, and its much more serious than all this legal nonsense he is involved in, is his uncanny ability to turn black and white issues into grey. And stupid people, left and right, fall for it. He has turned us into a very divided country and its not the left or the rights fault per se, but the inability to see we all have a lot more in common than we dont. Trump is setting us up for some very poor leadership going forward, some who very well could do a lot worse things than he did.

I'm not certain he would be. It doesn't change the legitimacy of the charges though.

Humble brag that he had $300k to spend on being "just a witness."

How many witnesses need legal representation, anyway?

The Rs likely think that this can be fixed with better messaging ... they might be right.

This should be discussed in the trial... the connections between the "Stop The Steal" activities led by trump and the January 6 insurrection...

Frivolous... that describes virtually all of trump's lawsuit and court actions.

    Trump is frivolous himself.

He needs to be convicted so that his MAGATS can wake up from their psychoses in supporting a crook....
