...uh... ...okay... ... I'm going to go out on a limb with this one here, and guess that maybe this ditz didn't compare notes with the last ditz who was going to unleash Krakens or bombshells or Armageddon... ... It's obvious she doesn't watch anything else except Fox News, or she'd get a good look at what happens to people who place a bet on ancient Greek mythological sea creatures being enough to fraudulently attempt to ouster a legitimately, democratically elected president, and replace him with an orange upstate New York mythological real estate mogul...
Yes because the case in NY doesn't have anything to do with his presidency. Also given that Jan 6th people and other Trump associates have been prosecuted none of whom are running for office. If he wasn't running for office it might actually make it easier to prosecute as it removes the questions of how to treat someone actively campaigning for office who might be President. Anyway its a chicke and egg problem as many inclduing those who worked for Trump are saying that he is running for President primarily to avoid prosececution and if need be to pardon himself.
Just a fascinating display of the differences between the left and the right. They think this is some political exercise and can't seem to grasp the seriousness of the crimes committed.
They see the seriousness, but choose not to acknowledge the seriousness. They are all-in on trump, as they don't have a Plan B. As a result, they will continue to defend the indefensible, including supporting him even if/when he is convicted of these serious crimes. I suspect they will put more energy into attacking Biden. A scorched earth policy.
I agree. They now seem to completely digest the indictments as political, as their ever-whining leader says. It's not really the referees who called the technical fouls. It's just seen as a home court thing where the opposing coach paid the referees. So they just want to get to their own homecourt, pay some referees and exact 2x vengeance. Fun times, America.
Or perhaps, not participating in a RICO criminal attempt to overthrow the government might have been a better option?
It's a good question, and I really think the answer is yes. A. These investigations have been running since his gang's sketchy (or downright illegal, we'll see) actions between Nov 20 and Jan 21 (and beyond). None of that assumed he'd ever run again. People should understand that the scrutiny started under Trump's DOJ. B. Part of the point of the justice system working through its methodical process is so that everyone sees the methodical process and terrible possible penalties. And in this case, they'll think twice (we can only hope) before putting together slates of fake electors, trying to illegally access voting machines, trying to strong-arm public officials to break their oaths, and so on. Hopefully other would-be criminals are like, "oh, this looks not fun. Maybe I'll stop my antics within the legal stuff, and maybe I won't listen to crackpot lawyers who just tell me crazy schemes I want to hear in the moment."
I mean it depends. January 6th, the fake elector scheme, etc. regardless was always going to need to be dealt with especially by the states who needed to look at what happened to shore up fraud in the upcoming elections. It's obvious to me that Trump knew in his mind that he HAD TO run again because it was inevitable that he'd have criminal liability, and becoming president again was the only way to ensure he could potentially pardon himself. Was there another way.... In theory sure I think Trump could have arranged to walk away with a strategy of compliance to the DOJ, FBI, state prosecutors that severely limited his criminal exposure. He could have thrown Giuliani, Eastman, and co. under the bus early on if he himself reached out to AG Garland to work out a plea agreement after the investigations were underway. I think that could have prompted state AG's and DA's to instead create a report to the public and Congress instead of indictments. However this theory relies on Trump to admit he lost, admit he made mistakes, and likely have some sort of apology to America along with being a cooperating witness legally. That's just not who Trump is. He chose to fight, and compounded the issue by continuing to commit crimes even after January 6th as well as running with the specific goal of well... overturning Democracy in order to become a dictator (see Trump's repeated comments on suspending the Constitution, etc.).
