Why would this happen? This wasn't recently but years ago. Made a big payment on a $6000 credit card, and my credit score took a huge hit. It was bad before the payment but alot worse after it. https://ibb.co/M9TvNfG
The only thing I could think would be that if the card was charged off and not effecting the credit score as much anymore. Then a payment is made and it then shows as late again. Not sure though.
I paid off 14k in CC debt in one payment and didn’t get it hit all. Yes, I was financially irresponsible. Lol
It was 10 months, not years ago. Aliens and time dilation, right? Some other factor is affecting your score here. You need a full report to see what's what.
Credit scores are BS and credit bureaus are vampires, sucking up way more personal info than the government could ever dream, hiding behind secrecy and many barriers to communication, using inexplicable algorithms, and screwing people over left and right. I hate them. (And yes, my credit is exemplary, but still, they suck.) It's no wonder there are few countries who manage credit like the US. Most just track negatives and the processes are well defined and well understood--and you generally have more rights when contesting something. Many fewer Catch-22s outside the US. Also, most credit trackers have to pay much greater attention to personal privacy, particularly in the EU. The amount of time and attention it takes to keep track of your credit score, to do stuff to keep it up, to analyze every bill and transaction for error, to communicate with bureaus and card companies if something is in error (you must mail us a letter--no phone calls or emails), and to routinely monitor your personal accounts at the bureaus is a significant and generally unnecessary tax on Americans. The credit bureaus are not there for the average American. They are there for corporations and whoever wants to buy your personal info from them. (If you want to permanently opt-out of the selling of your personal info to credit card companies and insurance agents, you have to send a letter by mail but we're automatically opted-in and you can validate that just by a click on a website. There's no opt-out option for other sales of personal info.)
Credit scores are like those frequent flyer programs. Supposed to make you feel better about the rat race... You have to play the damn game or else you can't buy sh** because everything is priced for borrowers....not cash buyers. Houses....expensive. Cars..expensive. Phones...monthly payments. Furniture...more payments.
Other than the temporal interference and loss of approximately one year "terrestrial" time, I'm glad the aliens returned him to us relatively unscathed.
Speaking of credit scores.. Everyone should freeze their credit at all three bureaus. Easiest way to prevent idiots opening up fraudulent accounts. When you need to apply for something legitimate, unfreeze it, get your credit checked and freeze it back.
Did you balance transfer to a 0% interest card? But yea, just get a free credit report and check for sure. A lot could have changed since Oct 2022.
It’s another way to say that I’m older than dirt……which to you younguns should be construed as advice: the easiest way to get a good credit score is to get old (while paying **** on time).
my social studies teacher once told us we shouldn't get a credit card when we get older, but another teacher told us to work on our credit score as early as possible. which one was telling the truth?
