The lineup Dusty rolled out on JV's debut made me want to shove his pack of toothpicks down his throat. Just abominable. I'm still upset about that one specifically (all the others are bad too, but that one in particular just pisses me off like no other).
Do you have any idea the context of the rule? It was designed to cut down on service time manipulation, which is only a problem for the very upper crust of prospects. Top 100 is pretty generous TBH. They could have set the bar at top 50 or even top 25. It was never meant to be a free pick for whichever team has the ROY.
I am fully aware of why the stupid rule was put into place. If a team (owner) is so worried about manipulation of service time so that they can have an extra year of cheap control of a player or two, the possibility of getting the 35th pick in a draft isn't going to stop them from holding the player back.
But in theory Maldonado was better with Brown and France, because in theory Dias was supposed to perform worse over time and in theory Maldonado knows how to cajole the best out of pitchers, especially ignorant rookies (also experienced vets who need a personal catcher). I know it is true because baseball players and a manager say it is true, and they won a lot of games last year with a far better and healthier team. Stop focusing on actual results on the field.
Also, ok smart a$$, how do you think that would play out Crane firing or offering an insulting contract the GM in the immediately after the season after they just won the WS???
So you didn't agree of saving your best for a prime PH situation (for Kessinger) when you could have had that at bat multiple times in a game?
That you can't understand the difference between doing it during the season as opposed to afterwards says everything.
Mid season change of voice with a talented roster filled with all stars has made a difference in the history of this franchise.
It’s what I keep getting told by the “pitchers know better” and “sample size is too small” and “but the team was good last year” crowd. So, I’m just giving in.
His post-game pressers are treading into Biden flubba-do-what territory. Honestly don't understand how he has the power to run less than stellar (sub-par) lineups out on the field... or hell, whoever "game-planned" for all the starters' rest days-- you're failing at your job, get back to your spreadsheet and send the most updated "lineup strategery" / rest-days it as it becomes a dynamic & extremely relative piece of ANALYTICAL information TO BE USED FOR THE GREATER GOOD AND INCREASING SUCCESS of this '23 team's chances for a repeat. Matter of fact-- who IS really running the show there in the locker room / manager's office...? I can't see how DuBaked is given such free reign with lack of "well no shhit" lineup changes (both in-game and pre/post game)... it honestly would not surprise me in the least if the "game-prepping/planning" C is the one who's running the defense (lineup) out there... #hottake
