It’s all about Dusty. The lineup power is his and his alone. Click found a way around it last year, and Click was fired. Now everyone is telling him to play Diaz and he will be damned if he visibly gives in to “fan stats” or journalists who don’t understand the clubhouse or the magic of Maldonado.
Diaz gets to catch JP. The sure blue chip rookie prospect that would be ahead of Cole in ERA if he had pitched 16 more innings this season. That balances everything out.
I just love when it's your worst starting pitcher that gets the weakest possible batting lineup. Considering Dubon has been batting .200 for at least a month now, the bottom 4 of this lineup might be an O'fer today. It's as if Dusty doesn't really care to win this game. Not even sure why Urquidy needs to be pitching today. We have Thursday off.
If they continue to fall (LOSE) games in which Pat-a-cake does dirty decisions, I would HOPE Crane would be smart/ballsy enough to allow those who are above him in the org chart strip the responsibilities/duties from him which he does the opposite of excelling at...
It's amazing how much less stress I deal with when I expect this and realize I can't change it. I'm actually happy that, after Dusty said Altuve woukd DH today, that he kept Yordan in the lineup. I was half expecting an infield of Singleton, Dubon, Hensley, and Kessinger with Chas, and Jake both in the outfield. Yordan, Bregman, Diaz, and Pena on the bench.
Doran was my favorite player for a couple of seasons when I was a kid. He replaced Jose Cruz as my fave and then was replaced by Glenn Davis in 1986. Davis was our first real power hitter since the 70’s so we were all craving that like crazy.
