    Obviously a private citizen named Hunter Biden getting luxurious gifts from wealthy benefactors is the end of the republic. An active USSC Justice getting luxurious gifts from wealthy benefactors is perfectly fine and normal.

    This is what Washington and other Founders feared. It was something that Washington warned about in his farewell address. The Founders were very leery of concentration of power but even by the end 1790's they could see how partisanship could to the very concentration of powers that they tried to limit.
