OMG!!! 300pages of pure unadulterated happiness ALPI-ness!! FYI... I actually come to this thread because of the Debbie-downers, they are a joy to read!! Spoiler: This is the way.... Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
This is the original claim: "I never quite got why FIBA rules differ so much from the NBA, considering America was the nation to both invent and popularize the sport" Now define "nation" and "invent" please.
Yes. He's not making more. It's just a very limited sample size of wide open threes Remember it takes a lot and I mean a lot of time and space for Sengun to hit a three. He has to be wide wide open and then you have to wait for like the 2 second pause of him contemplating if he should take it.
He made more in 2023 than in 2022. If he keeps making them at that clip when left open, they will have to start defending him there, it's really that simple.
He has to be a confident shooter. It has to be an effortless looking shot where he isn't hesitating. So if he can do that then he'll not be sagged off anymore.
Nobody is disputing that though, you're inventing a new argument. Nobody said that he will never create space, or that he will never improve his shooting. This is all in response to a poster who claimed that Jalen Green causes the same spacing issues that Sengun does, which isn't true.
Agreed - and he will be that. Remember, Silas explicitly told him not to shoot it. So he really only took the ones where he was so open that it was like...well, **** Silas, I'm shooting it (after thinking about whether he'll bench me for it) lol.
I raise. As of now Jalen Green causes more spacing issues than Alperen does since he’s also lacking court vision and passing skills overall on top of his bad shooting.
And he's improved his handle. Looks stronger, as well. I'm sure Coach Udoka watched video of this game and has to like what he saw.
Kinda dated myself with this post... only the old timers will get the reference Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
Jalen Green also is in the 85th percentile in on/off team ppp and 96th percentile in on/off team efg% https://cleaningtheglass.com/stats/player/4865/onoff#tab-team_efficiency Like you are trying to create a new definition for what "spacing" is just to find a way to discredit Green. Like Sengun's main problem on offense is spacing. That doesn't mean I'm going to not credit his excellent court awareness and great touch and footwork around the basket. Sengun can be great at those things but still cause spacing issues for the half court offense. Green's issues on offense are not providing spacing for teammates. There is a reason Sengun's scoring efficiency plummets when Green is not sharing the court with him.
If you can just name 1 issue that Jalen has in his game before his career ends, i’ll never post anything negative about him.
Green takes off the dribble and contested 3s. Sengun shot 33% while being left all of alone! Dumb statement lol
If the defender sags off him then you swing the ball to Alpi and let him go to work and the ball will still move. If you cut, he will find you. It has worked. When it doesn't work is when everyone stands around at the 3pt line oh and when Miami decided to Put Travis Scott on him out there on the perimeter. That's why the spacing argument never made sense, unless of course you want the guard to suffocate the air out of the ball so that he can drive in. But that negates the concept of "ball movement offense." PnR created plenty of space for cutters when Alpi and Green/Gordon executed it. The high post also creates plenty of space. It's not like we're going to do what the Cavs do on offense. Anyways here is Gating's podcast/tubecast for those interested.
