Damn, that's convoluted. Well done. I especially like your description of Melton being used as sweetener for dumping Ryan Anderson's stinking contract and got back two smaller stinking contracts in Chriss and Knight. Getting Ryan Anderson was an act of stupidity from start to finish for the Rockets. Melton turned out to be a solid player, while proving that 2nd round picks have value, but not for us. Anderson gave us nothing but misery. That we briefly had Brooks is irony for you. What a world.
The argument isn't that the Spurs nail every draft pick. No team does that. The point is that they tend to develop their prospects to the fullest which would benefit a productive, high ceiling prospect like Sengun. We don't know the Spurs draft board so I'm not even going to pretend they had any interest in Sengun, but them drafting someone else does not guarantee that he would have had less opportunity. The Bucks drafted John Henson over Khris Middleton. That speaks volumes, right? Except Middleton barely played in Detroit his rookie year and the very next season he was on the Bucks. Despite their draft positions, Middleton was the starter immediately and got way more minutes and a bigger role than Henson ever did. You even see this on teams with multiple picks within the same year. The Magic drafted Jalen Suggs at #5 and Franz Wagner #8. Wagner has started every game of his career and Suggs is getting fewer minutes than either Cole Anthony and Fultz.
Anderson’s first 2 rockets years produced 10 win shares and 1.8 vorp, by comparison brooks career has produced 6.9 win shares ans -4.6 vorp. There is basically 0 chance that brooks is even close to as good as Anderson was for the rockets, they are worlds apart as players
I think you are confused. Perhaps a drink of water is in order? As for Brooks, all I said about him was that he was ironical.
The funny thing is, all that shuffling of SRPs transformed Dillon Nobody to Dillon 85M Man. Who says second round picks are nothing?
Just arguing against the nothing but misery point. People act like anderson was brooks level bad, he wasn’t. He was an overpaid solid guy for 2 years then 2 years of dead money. Brooks is 4 years of dead money
This archetype talk has always been funny to me because not just the game of basketball every single thing in life is evolving. Jokic is responsible for point center talk. Somebody in the near future maybe a power forward will start another discussion. X player that isn't supposed to do y thing but somehow does it kind stuff. So that will be the new thing. They will draft players play like X. If your game forces others to make adjustments then congrats you started something. There are still lots of holes in the game and unicorns will show up nowhere and point you the hole sitting right in front your eyes the whole time.
Sengun being a legitimate 6-11 seems about right. Assuming websites are accurate and measurements done in European leagues are without shoes, Number 41 (Geoffrey Groselle) and 2 (Aleksander Balcerowski) are 7 ft 0 and 7 ft 1 respectively, and Sengun looks a bit shorter than these two. Number 1 is 6 ft 8 Jarosław Zyskowski, who guards Sengun face up on a number of possession, and does seem noticeably smaller.
The Jokic archetype is really a continuation of the Bill Walton // Arvidas Sabonis // Vlade Divac // Marc Gasol archetype Jokic is the best of the lot. Sengun is probably more athletic than all of them, he’s got some of the other Gasol as well
Alpi didn't start, and he got his 24/8/8 in 26 minutes. By far the highest efficiency rating on the court.
i wish we could count proper stats this side of pond. it is just a feeling whether a player is good or bad for who interested in football ,basketball etc. here.
