This seems pretty easy to me.

    Sengun - $12,500,000 / year - 10 year contract.
    Green - $12,500,000 / year - 10 year contract.
    Jabari - $12,500,000 / year - 10 year contract.
    Eason - $12,500,000 / year - 10 year contract.
    Thompson - $12,500,000 / year - 10 year contract.
    Whitmore - $12,500,000 / year - 10 year contract.

    Bada-bing, Bada-boom, you got yourself a team.

I'm not confused with his f'ing contract.

When has anything the Rockets done, has ever transitioned smoothly?

    Muh-never

That @$$-munch and his contract sucks and so does the knucklehead
Dillon Brooks. They delay the f'ing progress. Just press play and
    continue watching

go to settings and override player decisions. you can also go to roster and select individual players and edit their contracts.

I don't know how many times it needs to be pointed out to you. It literally does not matter what happens to FVV, there's nothing to transition with Jalen and Sengun contracts.

No matter if FVV is traded tomorrow the next day, next year, waived, injured, we pick up his option, not pick up his option, retires and takes a dump in Patrick Fertittas office, gets abducted by Aliens

We have the ability to offer max extensions to Green and Sengun

I think Sengun would seriously walk provided the Offense does not go through him depending on what other teams do.

I also think Cameron and Amen are going to develop into very good starters at the very least and they are getting paid very likely.

Tari and Bari are getting paid regardless.

My bad seemed like you were saying that his contract would impact the Rockets ability in some way to sign Sengun or Green.

    The rookie extensions are cheap.

The home town discount is at a rocket high 5-10 million per year.

No need to apologize, I've got a head cold or sinuses kicking my behind yesterday and today.
I'm not at the top of my game, so I shouldn't be posting.

I do find it funny though how people are changing their tune.

From we can always trade VanVleet in the 2nd year because
it appears as a huge amount expiring contract that everyone
    will want.

    to

Well, we will exercise the team option in summer of '25 right before
that third year. It's the only option; but it was always explained as such.

No, it wasn't. Rockets will have to take back roughly $43M back in assets
in an in-season trade with no teams basically below the basement level anymore.

I 100% agree that trading him mid-season without taking back significant salary would be impossible now, however, the flip side of that is that it may be easier to unload a player like that in the offseason now that there is a salary floor. Teams will need to fill up their space, so if they happen to have significant room and, in particular, if they are in a market that struggles to attract free agents, there is a lot worse that you could do than to bring in a championship pedigree vet like FVV.

    .

I don't think people are accounting for the new CBA rules. In a few years FVV's contract is going to look rather pedestrian relative to all the new contracts from mid to high end free agents in the next few years.

I think you're way overenthusiastic about the title contention timeline (and how many of our players end up being worth paying) if you think these events are going to overlap.

Does anyone know when the "deadline" is for Green/Sengun before they hit UFA? Curious as to when the Rockets would need to make them an offer by.

Don’t listen to me because I’m probably wrong but…

    Green/Sengun:
Extension eligible in Summer of ‘24 (next year)
    RFA in Summer of ‘25

    Smith/Eason:
Extension eligible in Summer of ‘25
    RFA in Summer of ‘26

Amen/Cam (assuming their 3rd/4th year options are picked up)
Extension eligible in Summer of ‘26
    RFA in Summer of ‘27

As others have said, any potential extension(s) wouldn’t kick in until the next year. (ie Jalen signs an extension in Summer of ‘24, extension wouldn’t start until ‘25-‘26 season. 24-25: final year/salary of rookie deal, 25-26: new extension)

VanVleet: off the books in Summer of ‘25 (team option for ‘26)
Brooks: off the books in Summer of ‘27
    KPJ: Year-to-year
Everyone else working on one-year deals with team options/non-guaranteed years

    https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2018/12/hoops-rumors-glossary-designated-rookies-rose-rule.html
The designated rookie rule only applies to a player who signs an extension before the final year of his rookie contract. If a player finishes his rookie contract, then signs a new five-year contract with his team when he hits restricted free agency, it may ultimately look the same as a designated rookie extension in terms of years and dollars, but he wouldn’t technically be considered a designated rookie.

An NBA team is permitted to have up to two designated rookies on its roster at a time. However, only one of those two designated rookies can be acquired via trade.

    https://hoopshype.com/lists/nba-designated-rookie-rule/
The rule allows teams to extend players with one year left on their rookie-scale contracts for five additional years. The starting salary has to be at least the 25 percent maximum salary for players with 0-6 years of service.

The designation only applies to players on rookie-scale contracts that add five additional years through an extension. This doesn’t apply to players who enter restricted free agency and then re-sign for five-year maximum deals, such as Nikola Jokic and Brandon Ingram in recent years.

NBA contracts are generally limited to five years for players with Bird rights re-signing with their previous teams. In extensions, players with Bird rights are also limited to five-year contracts, but that includes the current year in which the extension is signed.

For example, if a player has one year left on his deal, he can only extend for an additional four years. That is because the current year and the four additional years turn his contract into a five-year deal. The same would apply to players with two years left on their contract extending for a maximum of three years.

The designated rookie rule was created to allow players with one year left on their rookie-scale contracts to extend for an additional five years, turning their contract into a six-year deal. This is so players are incentivized to extend with their teams instead of entering free agency just for the sake of being able to sign a five-year contract.

Teams are only allowed to have two designated rookies at a time. For example, the Denver Nuggets signed both Murray and Porter Jr. to five-year maximum extensions, so they couldn’t extend another player to such a contract while keeping both Murray and Porter Jr.

Isn’t the last year of VanVleet’s contract a team option? Also isn’t Brooks contract front loaded
