Yes, tortillas are a type of bread. So is naan, pita, and the other 39 types of flatbreads (with or without yeast) from around the world. It's also ok to differentiate between the flats and loaves.
Speaking of breads, I remember when these came out, I couldn't believe there was a need, but what do I know? Ok, back to our regularly scheduled "this or that" discussion!
Yo if tortillas are bread, then cakes are also bread. https://thegardeningfoodie.com/sponge-cake-without-eggs-milk-butter/
Mexicans are as fanatic of tortillas as French of their bread, people here in Mexico, eat everything, with tortilla. People love tortillas.
In Mexico we do say that specially a handmade corn tortilla are soo delicious you can eat it the tortilla alone, or just a side dish, like the bread is. It seems they dont have good tortillas over ther,e but when you try a tortilla here in Mexico, it will change your mind.
There have been several times I've been to Mexican restaurants here in the DFW area and said that they had good tortillas, but it varies with the restaurant. There was a restaurant here that made the tortillas fresh and they were hot when they arrived at the table that. They also made tortilla chips fresh/hot that are still the best tortilla chips I've ever had. I always used to order the fajitas there because whatever they used to marinate the meat in was ridiculously good. Unfortunately that restaurant's quality has gone down in the several years since I've been there. We used to eat there at work at least once or twice a week almost 20 years ago. It was the first restaurant that made me realize how good a tortilla can taste compared to store-bought tortillas that always have some weird aftertaste.
Love bread and tortillas. Each perfectly serve different needs. On a separate, but related note, we recently got Raising Canes around Sacramento and I had high hopes. Definitely disappointed. Just seems like bland fried chicken, similar to Chick Fila. And there's nothing special about toasted and buttered white bread. I mean come on. Popeyes chicken and biscuits blows that ish away.
I've had Raising Canes and don't get what the appeal is. It's not bad but it's not that great either.
There's another thread somewhere in the forum(maybe the chicken sandwich thread) where I said I boycotted Canes. Never trust a fried chicken joint that doesn't serve mash potatoes and/or gravy. You can keep your crinkle fries and weak ass sauce.
