Of course, i'd rather have lopez at 2/60 then brooks at 4/80. Brooks is AWFUL and should not be getting any minutes for this team even now in his "prime"

Because all money on the books adds up.

To trade VanVleet in his 2nd season (at trade deadline) will almost certainly
brings back a bad contract or two.

As with all players making $40+M.....it's hard to take back less than
dollar for dollar contracts back during a trade in the season now
that teams are forced to spend over the basement floor.

Not sure if they (players) will present caps holds if nobody picks
them up if the Rockets buy them out

But that's the summer Green and Sengun are eligible for their extensions.

Green RFA in summer 2025.....prior to 25/26 season.
Eligible for Extensions in summer of '24 (after this season)

Sengun RFA in summer 2025.....prior to 25/26 season.
Eligible for Extensions in summer of '24 (after this season)

So I'm not sure I know what you are talking about. FVV is still on the books.
Going into year two of the VanVleet contract.

I like your optimism that all our young players will be worth paying huge contracts. More likely we will end up with a mixed bag, some guys worth paying and most will move on to other teams (or out of the league).

Look at the results of all the high picks for the Sixers during "The Process":

    Nerlens Noel
    Michael Carter-Williams
    Joel Embiid
    Dario Saric
    Jerami Grant
    Jahlil Okafor
    Ben Simmons
    Furkan Korkmaz
    Markelle Fultz

Only 3 of those guys got huge paydays, only two of them got their big contracts from the Sixers, and only two are even still on the team.

you don't need to trade fvv, you can just let him expire and he's off the books before any extensions can kick in. FVV has zero connection to the extensions of young players

He is guaranteed $42.8M when Green and Sengun are eligible in Summer '24.

    After this season (23/24)

    We disagree, again.

that's just not how it works, his salary for next season is irrelevant when it comes to the rookie extensions, since they don't kick in till the year after. Even if green and sengun sign the day they're eligible for the full max, it still won't kick in till FVV is expired

My understanding is, even if Houston exercises it's team option on VanVleet
going into free agency in summer '25.....cap hold is in Houston books.

Much like any other player being moved into unrestricted free agency.

    1. They can just renounce him and he’s off the books
    2. You can still give green and sengun max if you pick up the option on fvv

Green or Sengun & Smith the following year for maximum contracts. (The other will be traded). Eason should get a solid but non max contract. (Very Brooks like)

what is Green or Sengun’s trade value now?

Yeah and if he tears an ACL we will be in great shape also.

Crazy when I said give KPj around $18M and these same people said.....no
not a penny over $9M. I responded how the TV deal and streaming was
going up and how $18M will look like nothing.

Some of you turkeys are trying real hard to justify $43M per year.
How it won't lockup our flexibility for two years.

Just get rid of KPj......just get rid of VanVleet. Always taking two
steps back to go one step forward.

Stone keeps selling us on a 5-year plan......always on the two yard line BS.
Presidents always telling us they need more than one 4-year term to get
things done. I don't buy it, Stone would be fired Muh-Yesterday

Doesn’t matter if fvv never plays for the rockets, it has no impact on any of the young guys contracts. Kpj is different because he’s garbage, fvv is someone who’s at least a good player

edit- i do understand you have to be anti fvv because of your kpj stuff so that’s fine, i know it’s not serious and you don’t actually think that

Way to change the subject. So you basically admit that FVV's contract have zero affect on how much we can offer Green and Sengun.

    Your opinion.
    VanVleet sucks in my opinion.
He takes away from player development as a distributor.

Id rather give the minutes to Amen.
There is nothing that VanVleet can teach Amen.

    Amen can teach VanVleet

I never agree with you, why should this be any different.
As you watch VanVleet, you will understand.

They can sign extensions after this season.

But the money won't kick in until 2025. Tilman isn't in danger of paying the luxury tax in that year unless he wants to pick up FVV 3rd year option

It's not just VanVleet.....Dillon was a god awful contract. Cuban ran up the price
as the Rockets always run up the price on players they want. Cuban screwed us
    royally.

Trade FVv next year.....you take back assets that are on the book.
......................................up to $43M is hard to buy out of just waive.

Exercise team option makes FVv a UFA......cap hold on our book
...........................what if FVv is injured and it delays him moving on.
...........................if it doesn't play the Sengun/Green extension, it's still
............................delays progress as $43M and $22M players get
.............................the playing time. Rarely do they accept back up roles.

Are we not going to be successful with FVv/Dillon?......wouldn't you
want to keep them? I've been sold they will make us playoff bound
day 1. How easy you and others are selling the two off. My, my.

    Summer '24 (extension eligible).......Summer '25 (extension eligible)
    Green.............................................................Jabari Smith
    Sengun...........................................................Tari Eason

Things will start backing up fast. With VanVleet and Dillon Brooks.
It's hard to get a true reading on those due extensions, because Dillon
sucks and he will get 30+ minutes. It's talking basketball 101 and deals
    with spacing.

Many to most KPj haters don't understand spacing or lack thereof.
    I don't want to teach you.....not today.

Do you think fvv is an upgrade on kpj at least?

You think Amen, Jabari and Tari are going to wait peacefully for two years?

Good luck with that. I'm saying you can't trade the VanVleet/Dillon
Brooks contracts as easy as some act that they will year one and
    two of their contracts.

I’m not sure why you’re confused about VV’s contract. It’s for 2 years the players Green and Sengun have 2 more years of a rookie contract. Nothing more nothing less.
