I don't think he is defending their hyper elevated state - he said they should be found guilty of a serious crime.

Maybe I am wrong, but I think he is saying that the people that hit the woman in the head did not instigate the brawl.

Normal trash behavior that you see in twitter FIGHT VIDEOS. The full quote is important there, I didn't say or imply it was normal behavior
    Neither did the woman.

from what we see on the video she’s just as innocent as the dock worker. So is it more outrageous to hit someone with your first or with a weapon

It is more outrageous to hit someone (especially a woman) with a chair.

I don't really want to get into splitting hairs - and I didn't think that is what @fchowd0311 was doing - I think that the person that hit the woman with a chair should be charged with a felony. Just because a fight or brawl breaks out, doesn't mean that it gives someone the right to crack people with chairs, especially if they are not actively involved in the fight.

I have no idea what lead up to the fight.

right all I said was that chair shot on the seated woman was the most egregious act in the video. Totally insane behavior.

Poor Rudy. He couldn't talk about "the incident" for a long time after it happened. People probably don't understand just how physically damaged he was by that punch. Just awful all the way around, for Washington too.

One (of many) reasons I was so happy for Rudy as our coach was that it really reformatted his NBA arc much further away from "that guy who was good but nearly got killed by an in-game punch." Now he's a champion coach and a former player.

Also on replay some other woman started hitting that white lady after she took the chair shot and was reeling holding her head, still on the ground.

I know I know, heightened state!

people celebrating this video as an act of heroism are out of line. This was violent trash all around save for a couple of dudes who genuinely were trying to help the dock worker in the beginning

There's a quote from Rudy T when they won that goes along the lines of how big balls the Rockets had but of course that's never quoted in articles, but aside from the Heart of a Champion, the whole we got balls, big balls, from him after winning is the quote that always stuck out most to me.

It isn't an act of heroism, and people acting like it is are only going to make people believe that type of behavior is justified.

Going down there? Sure, seeing a co-worker is out numbers, I can see going down there - using it as an excuse to bash someone and take out your anger on? Nope.

The people hitting the women in the head and other people once they are down are just trash.

I will reiterate again that the security guard certainly has a right to defend himself and was doing his duty. Bystanders also have a right to defend someone who is immediate
Danger and the security guard being both performing his duty and outnumbered is in immediate danger. Beyond that though others who were not engaged in the initial attack and otherwise not engaged in violence to hit them would be assault. I think for the guy with the
Chair that is likely the case. Also since hes using a metal chair it’s armed assault.

This goes back to a point I’ve made frequently. It’s a bad idea to go looking to be a hero and think you’re taking on crime. I suspect the man with the chair will argue he thought he was trying to do the right thing but once he goes beyond the immediate threat he’s an assailant.

Do you have information on their motivation or are you just virtue signalling?

Look it up one of the participant is the owner of a mini mart chase shipman. Man type out some racist sht while telling his side of the story.

    Example:
I don't need you people's money. I prefer the superior white dollars.

When responding to someone mockin him about needing thoughts and prayers from the ass whopping he replies.

That's nothing I have been attacked by gorillas before.

But ya in your world folks just loves screaming racist for no reason

I haven't seen anyone's sides to this story but just looking at the video, my thoughts:

    • It was way more than 2 guys from the initial boat group involved in jumping the security guard. The ones that weren't physically beating him seemed more concerned with holding him down than pulling their friends off him.
    • The guy with white shorts that ran to help early on did everything right. He did more to diffuse the situation than anyone.
    • The red dress woman didn't deserve to get hit with that chair. But, without the birds eye view, I can see where the other women may have thought she was involve in fighting the striped shirt guy.
    • The chair guy clearly deserves to go to jail and looks like he did.
    • However, the chair itself looks like one of those cheap flimsy plastic folding chairs so hopefully no longterm damage.
One positive is with all the video evidence, I expect everyone that wasn't acting in self defense or defending someone in danger to be held accountable.

Are y'all sure this happened in Alabama? I am pretty sure, based on certain things I have read in this here forum that all bad behavior of any kind happens in Time Square of New Orc City or in Satan Francisco.
