Yordan didn't get injured while standing on deck when the game ended, so at least there's that

Seriously though, the only brightside today is the bullpen gets the rest it desperately needs

That's what they say but I don't buy it. I think it's classic Dusty favoring his vets regardless of performance. Urquidy is starter and has seniority so the rook is out despite how good he looks. It's not a meritocracy. It's Dusty playing favorites again.

The Astros could have the Monstars equivalent to a baseball lineup and Dusty would still find a way to screw it up...he's entered Bill Obrien I want him gone territory..

He probably didn’t start Diaz today because “he struggles against left handed pitchers” which is ridiculous because:

    1) Cortes was going to be limited to 65-75 pitches
    2) It’s about the only time he ever uses stats to justify any of his decisions.

He likely batted Peña 2nd again today because of Cortes pitching as well. It’s like he had no clue he was coming back with no rehab starts and was going to be extremely limited.

So a split with Yankees is a disappointment. Going 1-3 would be a near disaster. Then suddenly we need to “sweep” the Orioles on the road. Good luck with that

Dusty does something’s very well as a manager and last year just about every major decision he made down the stretch was the right one.

The issue I have with Baker now if line up based. With injuries he got production out of players like Dubon and Julks and France etc. He doesn’t need to do that now though- for example, there is no reason for Diaz not to start at DH or C every game. There is no reason for McCormick not to be the starting CF every game.

So France isn't starting for the time being so we'll see even less of Y. Diaz. Just like Dusty planned.

If Dusty put the best lineup out there and they still lost then so be it but putting another trash lineup out there just makes it worse. Dusty's prideful ass is trying to prove a point. He wants to show his approach is best no matter what. The playoffs are not a guarantee if Dusty is allowed to continue to manage in this way.

Wait France got demoted out of the starting rotation?

Urquidy is garbage compared to how France has pitched all season.

Yep this is Dusty's last year.

it’s time for an intervention by Brown and Crane. Who knows how many close games we lost this year because of lineup shenanigans.

If it weren't for Dave Roberts, the 2022 Astros will go down as the MLB version of the 2008 Celtics, where the team oozed so much talent the coach/manager could do no wrong.

Good point. Also every season has tough stretches. Even the championship ones.

Let's finish this season strong and see what happens.

Yeah he's getting bumped to the bullpen for Urquidy's return as a starter. They say it's to keep his innings in check but it's probably just Dusty favoring his vets over rooks..despite Urquidy looking shaky as hell in Sugarland and France pitching lights out. He probably also wants to see more Maldy and less of Diaz catching.

Bruce Bochey is managing like the anti-Dusty Baker. The Rangers line-ups are the most consistent day to day and his best hitters always play in the same spot in the line-up. It's a big reason they're the best offense and absolutely rake. He doesn't play cute, isn't passive aggressive, doesn't make a bitter remarks bringing players down to to prop up his favorites, etc.

So cool that the Yankees got to face Pena more times than Alvarez today.

HUGE loss. critical. No one to keep Dusty in check now. This is the result.
